"I totally agree it's nothing but a HUSTLE. The problem we have in T&T is the condition of the economy is leading the young generation to do what's necessary to survive. There is no lack of players; what we have is a lack of leadership…"

"Panorama is a Hustle for MOST Pan Players in T&T. There may be a shortage of Pan Players for the Steelbands, but there are a whole lot of Pan Player Hustlers for hire. MONEY is the name of the game!"

Ajamu Nyomba replied to Bugs's discussion Why is there a player shortage in Trinidad and Tobago?
"Is the problem a shortage of players or too many steelbands? This is a major problem area within the steelband movement. And placing limits on the number of bands with which a panist could play in panorama is a necessary but not sufficient condition…"

"Yes, some good points Michael. However maybe there should be a series of 'heats' around  say Christmas with a Grande Finale in the form of Panorama. The other point is, that Pan is difficult to play and requires love &…"

"Is it possible that the disparity in monetary rewards is turning pan players off? For example an imported drummer can pull down approximately twenty thousand for the panorama;but a local player is lucky to earn five thousand."
