Dear Mr.  Andrew Salvador,

Please meet the members of the Nutrien Silver Stars Steel Orchestra. While this isn't my full compliment of players (12 members missing), I wish to let you know that we are fully functioning and prepared for any event which may arise.

With that being said, it is with a heavy heart I express my feeling of disappointment that it's almost five (5) months since the end of Panorama 2018, yet my players hasn't been given their dues. While I must admit that they haven't been rioting for their dues, I cannot sit around any longer, patiently awaiting ADULT MEN to patch up their differences for an entire Steelpan community to receive their compensation.

May I remind you that an executive was elected by a membership in 2015 to oversee the affairs of the Steelband body in which YOU are included, and is tasked with a very crucial role in exercising what is required at this moment.

As a drill master, I was always of the view that my job was the most frowned upon position in any Steelband, as drill masters/music directors were assigned tasks that required them to make decisions that were not always in favor of its members. I'm sorry to say that in 2018, I believe that being a Pan Trinbago executive member has taken that spotlight away from my role in the band.

Nevertheless, the fact remains that the Steelpan fraternity is in a position that is unable to heal overnight. I don't intend to riot. I come to you in peace. As said previously to both the President and the Secretary of Pan Trinbago Inc, it is unfortunate that we are in this position now, but I'm asking on behalf of my players, my band, my region and by extension, the Steelpan community that we all put our differences aside and work on fixing the very little left that can fixed by simply doing what needs to be done to pay what is owed. The elections is drawing near and anything else can be dealt with when the time is right.

I hope for a speedy remedy in this matter.

Regards,
Marcus Ash (Tray)

  • Mr. Hickson, I strongly suspect that you understand the time and commitment associated with drilling "a large" panorama band? The rational for my hypothesis.

  • Sounds like more jackassness in the mix to this country bookie. An official of the eastetn region of PT is the "PANORAMA" drill master of a West (northern region) band? JACKASSNESS!

    • I found that strange too...How could an East Region exec. be a member of a North band?...But then again...It's no big thing to play for more than one band in the competition no matter what part of the country yuh from...

      • Further than that...Since the World Cup is in progress...It means that a man from Trinidad could resent Oceania or Europe on the FIFA executive?...

    • Russel the guy drillin ah big band in town,  not too shabby for ah country bookie.

  • Marcus Ash: Yuh just playing yuhself if yuh think Salvador or Forteau or Sheppard or Joseph listening to you. The PAN TRINBAGO EXECUTIVE is about ONE THING and ONE THING ONLY and that is STEALING AS MUCH OF THE PAN TRINBAGO FUNDS as they could.

If PAN PLAYERS was SO STUPID to go and play in 2018 PANORAMA when all the warning signs were blaring in the media, then PAN PLAYERS deserve to be made to sit around with their hands stretched out waiting for that $500 until DECEMBER 2018.

So you too sit down and wait and stop making all that NOISE!!! Because that EXECUTIVE eh LISTENING!!!

  • Marcus it is noble of you to try and do something to get players their money, but I believe your letter would have been more effective if it had the signature of at least the 7 large bands in the city. Bands have to own-up to their lack of involvement in what's going on around them is at the core of their situation. Bands have to unite and get involved.
