Hi Cecil, how are you doing?

The last time we 'chatted', if you recall, was just around last year's Panorama when All Stars went on to execute that winning performance of "Play Yuhself".  Well, another glorious Panorama is upon us.

Yep! I have to agree with you in that it certainly looks like Skiffle Bunch under Ray's muscial tutelage is going to add some acoustic flavour to this year's Panorama with their "chutney".  Let's wish them much success. However, it appears that only one band has the "Bounce and Drive" to go all the way.

    • Peter, it is always a de light chatting with you, a little black bird told me that you are a All Stars fan, if so you are backing one of the top bands in the world, no doubt they will be coming HARD this year since they are going for a 3peat I wish them the best of luck but you know it will not be a walk in the park.

Ray is to be respected at all times because he has won before, one thing I know for sure is we will be treated to beautiful music how it plays out is up to the judges. I will ask you to pay close attension to the music produced by RAY, ANDY and ZANDA.

  • Good dialog guys.

I saw Mr. Holman last year and asked him, "will you be arranging for anyone next year."

He laughed and said,"we will see"

I am looking forward to hearing the Semi's, and hearing the placings. We will all see them. (lol)

  • Not taking anything away from Ray, but lets give praise where due and not forget Smooth Edwards with Curry Tabanca way back in 1987 and Godwin Bowen with Dulahin for Skiffle Bunch in 2002. I am looking forward to hearing what Ray does with it myself, though.

    • Added to this he had a long passage of 'chutney' in I think it was '' IF WE REALLY WANT " when he came in 3rd with Starlift behind Phase 11 and All Stars in 2006. So it is nothing new with Ray.

      • Bertel, a few lines of chutney in a song doh make it ah chutney song.

DJ  If I am wrong I stand corrected. What is a chutney song?

I don't think a song is chutney because they mention Dhal and rice or Curry in it.

        • Cecil, with all due respect to you, the way your discussion is worded, one will get the impression that it is a big thing for Ray to be doing his first ever 'Chutney'  beat / sound in the Big Yard. I dare say that it is so common a beat in the Rama that a whole tune in 'Chutney' will make no difference. As DJ points out, these are our MUSICAL HEROS, and their attempt to murge our different cultures in music on our National Instrument should be NOTED by ALL Trinbagonians. MORE LOVE.

          • Bertel It's just that I think that Ray wanted a strong chutney message in this composition, you can tell from the beginning and how the vocals were.

            • To me it is a strong attempt to merge the two cultures in song on the Steelpan. Mind you, this is how the brother thinks.
