NV/CIP Beverley, Aquil and Gregory

I want to publicly condemn the alleged threats of Keith Diaz against Aquil and his band, as this dictatorial attitude must never be accepted, although Aquil  disgracefully  and embarrassingly admitted to encouraging it when it was perpetrated against the goodly lady from Tobago, and allowed it to bear fruit in her alienation and demonization, while deceitfully apologizing publicly in an effort to promote his own agenda and the CIP's, which I consider distasteful and dishonest.

  • Is it too little to late?
  • Does he have a game plan pursuant to his posting?

That depends on his understanding of my following account of the history of the politics of Trinidad and Tobago that I would describe for his benefit.

Beverly Ramsey-Moore is not the first aspiring leader from Tobago to feel that pain. The elders on this forum may recall the treatment meted out to ANR Robinson and his ACDC, when he, not unlike Aquil separated himself from his political godfather and sponsor Dr Eric Williams, and condemned and opposed him publicly in 1970. The elders on this forum may recall his no vote campaign in the general elections of 1971, when the house of representatives comprised 36 seats, 34 in Trinidad and 2 in Tobago (Today it comprises 41 seats). The elders on this forum may recall ANR Robinson's first attempt at coalition politics with the ACDC/DLP joining forces with Vernon Jamadar. The PNM won all 36 seats. To satisfy the requirements of a bi-carmel parliament in 1971, the elected PNM representative for Point Fortin John R.F. Richardson was allowed to:

  • Resign from the PNM and become an independent.
  • Cross the floor and become the window dressing leader of the opposition.

Robinson made a political gamble in 1971 when he announced that the ACDC-DLP coalition would not contest the May 24 1971 general election, the PNM won all 36 seats. ANR Robinson entered a period of political hopelessness during the 1971-76 period as he called for civil disobedience as a means of challenging the Government in the absence of any real opposition, and was only able to rise politically and assume the position of leadership of this country after his unholy marriage to Basdeo Panday with Karl Hudson-Phillips as his concubine, after the death of Eric Williams.

  1. Will Aquil, Gregory and Beverly attempt to form the unholy pan coalition of The NV/CIP?
  2. Will they advocate boycotting the Panorama as a political gamble?
  3. Will they enter a period of political hopelessness with their call for civil disobedience as a means of challenging Diaz?

Only time will tell.

The conclusion of the foregoing episode can be related with the following:

  • The violent separation of ANR Robinson and Basdeo Panday.
  • The ensuing political irrelevance of Karl Hudson-Phillips, and the fragmentation of his base.
  • The 1990 insurrection when Robinson was shot and eventually voted out of office.
  • Does Keith Diaz have to die for Aquil, Gregory and Beverly to be inducted as the custodians of 14 - 17 Park Street?
  • Is Aquil subtly seeking to form a coalition with Beverly Ramsey-Moore by his feeble attempt at a public apology?
  • Will any coalition between Aquil, Gregory and Beverly last?

  • nice pics. you really said Aquil is a good looking boy, i know seeing it. lol.

tell Mr. Diaz when you see him in your band's practice later, i said hello.

  • Brilliant review Mercer Ramdoo. Definitely Politics and Pan. However, I disagree with the notion of "who we go put", as irrelevant for the following reasons:

    1. ANR Robinson wanted to be Prime Minister when he formed the ACDC/DLP with Jamadar.
    2. Vernon Jamadar wanted to be Prime Minister when he was leader of the DLP.
    3. Karl Hudson-Phillips wanted to be Prime Minister when Williams feigned resignation, and Chalkdust sang "We 'Fraid Karl".
    4. Basdeo Panday wanted to be Prime Minister when he formed the United Labour Front with George Weeks, Raffique Shah in 1976.

    Conversely:

    1. Aquil continually keeps advocating that he is not interested in leadership.
    2. Gregory continually keeps publishing that he is not interested in leadership.
    3. CIP's Gregory and Aquil keep advocating that nobody in The CIP are interested in leadership.

Therefore if you ask my opinion Mercer Ramdoo this is not a case of "Who We Go Put", as it is a case of CIP assness with no workable proposition or solution and only rumblings which can only create a failed state in the steelband fraternity not dissimilar to what has occurred in Irag and Libya, with no recognizable benefits for the rank and file of panmen, but a a creation of opportunities for strong men to seize and control while "Panman Public" continues to suffer more.

  • Sounds like a ramble (politics and steel) to me. So, who we go put? Dais the question. Seems like everyone's tainted. Vote for me, I don't know sh*t 'bout running nutten, but at least I'm honest. My org.? P. A. N. I. C, which simply means Putting Another N***** In Confusion.
