Brimblers panside evicted

The future of single pan and small band Brimblers is limbo after being evicted from its location in Woodbrook. The panside which has been based at the corner of Tragarete Road and White Street for the past 8 years was given one day to vacate the property. Its manager tells CNC3 news that Brimblers now has nowhere to go. Cameraman Michael Ramsingh and reporter Ria Rambally bring us this story.

  • Steelbands generate little or no income so it is impossible for most to acquire property on their own, so I guess tax payers will have to buy a few pan-yards.

    • Cecil: Rowley going and TAX EVERY PROPERTY OWNER IN Trinidad so billions will be coming in from TAX PAYERS. Now he could afford to BUY ALL THE PAN YARDS FOR ALL THE STEELBANDS. With enough money left over to RAISE THE SALARIES of KEITH DIAZ and the PAN TRINBAGO EXECUTIVES and to UP the PANORAMA PRIZE  MONEY and to pay the PAN MEN $2500 for their PANORAMA PERFORMANCE.

The least DOCTOR DOLLY could do is to PAY THE PAN MEN DIRECTLY. Because if she give KEITH DIAZ that 25 million $$$ to PAY DEM PAN MEN -- ah doh have to tell you how it will DISAPPEAR before PAN MEN get a CENT.

      • THE latest report from the Auditor General has lifted the cover of Pandora’s box on the general state of disarray and delinquency at the highest levels of governance in Trinidad and Tobago. Almost no institution seems to be in compliance with the requisite laws or regulations guiding their obligations for financial decision-making and/or reporting. With such disrespect and disregard at the top, the societal collapse below is no surprise. A leadership culture of irresponsibility and non-accountability will inevitably breed a national culture of the same order.

Red flags in Auditor General’s report
President’s Office, Judiciary and State enterprises fail to submit financial statements...

        • odw: So you read these articles (and the many more that have been written along these lines since the days of "MONEY IS NOT THE PROBLEM" and "ALL AH WE TIEF") and how could you expect PAN TRINBAGO to be any different?

          WHY DUMP ON KEITH DIAZ???

The CIP is putting on these ROSE-COLOURED GLASSES and thinking that they could magically transform the "NATIONAL CULTURE OF DISORDER" simply by typing up some CLASS ROOM IDEAS and the 61 years of CONDITIONING will simply ERASE ITSELF and be RECONDITIONED by WORDS ON A DOCUMENT.

... and this at the LOWEST LEVEL when at the HIGHEST LEVEL you see the LEADERSHIP CULTURE OF IRRESPONSIBILITY and NON-ACCOUNTABILITY.

          LET'S GET REAL!!!

          • Claude,

PanTrinbago is the representative organization for steelbands and their players in the Mecca, Keith Diaz is their elected leader. Leadership 101, if you are 100% responsible you do whatever it takes to get the job done.  I know he's no George Goddard, the character ethic is missing.

I believe change can be accomplish despite the disorder and years of conditioning. You have to be willing to out-grow what no longer fits. This is the challenge for CIP, they will have to decide how they will convert followers from what is considered the norm into an action and results oriented movement benefiting the membership (pan players).

My personal belief is change can start from the bottom up. The education process should start in the panyards or Pan in schools. Leadership training, mentoring, accountability, responsibility and discipline. Planting seeds for future leaders in the pan movement.

        • The BIG boys play a mas wid money now the ordinary man have to catch up.

          • and this is why the whole CIP bureaucratic agenda is Bogus
  • Where is Pan Trinbago on this matter?

    • Brimblers should have known that the owners would want to develop the place at some time, come-on that's prime real estate. If they intend to stay in Woodbrook they better look for money to buy the property.

    • Take NO responsibility blame the Government...not doing something.
