The seven large bands in the city could come together and make a bold statement to the powers that be and tell them we want to be judged going down the drag for the preliminaries of panorama. THEY HAVE POWER TO MAKE THINGS HAPPEN, they could change the game.

Well, Cecil: STEELBAND MUSIC has gone WAY BEYOND THE LOCALS. All I can hope is that the NEW YORK & ENGLAND and CANADA PAN MOVEMENTS (EXPATS) take the reins and deliver the music that could compete GLOBALLY. All they really have to do is to understand that all it takes to make some GLOBAL PAN MUSIC is a GOOD PRODUCER and a GOOD MUSICAL CONCEPT. And there are so many approaches PAN MUSIC could take. No different from HOLLYWOOD!!! You have a ROUGH IDEA for a movie and you get to HOLLYWOOD and everything is already in place (Directors, Actors, Scriptwriters, Production Crews, Studios, Whatever) if you want to PAY FOR THE PRODUCTION.
Nobody is going to remove KEITH DIAZ from PAN TRINBAGO so we better give up on all that OLE TALK. Typically, the CIP has gotten too headstrong too early. Plus, when the STEELBANDS refused to strike for the LAST PANORAMA that was the end of the movement.
The good thing for me is that I have always understood the issues and the politics. And even though I knew that nothing was going to change -- I did hold out some hope FOR THE SAKE OF THE MUSIC. But that hill is too high for LESSER MUSICIANS to climb!!!
NO! NO! CECIL!!! No conspiracy theory here. It's just that the WRONG PEOPLE have been running PAN TRINBAGO for TOO LONG. And the leadership is just about filling their pockets and exploiting the labour. And for a long time nobody was LOOKING at the internal corruption.
But Bryon Serrette wanted a bigger piece of the PIE and he did not get it so he ratted out and scandalized Keith Diaz and a lot of the BOBOL fell out of the closet into media. The problem now is that everything has come to a standstill.
No shows on the horizon!!! No Payment for Pan Men!!! No intervention from the MINISTER OF CULTURE!!! No report on the PANORAMA GATE RECEIPTS!!! Everybody afraid to PUSH A PAWN because the POLITICAL STAKES are SO HIGH for their PRIVATE AMBITIONS.
The CIP are trying to fill the vacuum but that obsession they have with BUREAUCRACY is just going to create chaos.
That ROCK and ROLL PAN PROJECT is really bad news for PAN in TRINIDAD & TOBAGO!!! And the LOCALS cannot even begin to understand THE DANGER. That is ONE AREA in which we should have been leading with the music. And as Randi Curvan said: Plenty PAN LOVERS the world over have been advocating for such a project for years now.
So pardner, NO PAN ON THE DRAG! NO PAN ON THE ROAD FOR CARNIVAL MONDAY! AND NO PAN MUSIC CD to go around the WORLD under the TRINIDAD BANNER.

Mr. Morning Glory: You and I have been getting along fine and having a nice little exchange, so I don't want to alienate you. But I do have to ask you some questions.
Who is going to stop the DEE JAYS from coming on the road? Who is going to FUND the STEELBANDS to come out CARNIVAL MONDAY for 9 hours on the road? Who is going to tell the steelbands to roll their PANS on the ground as they proceed towards the judges the way it used to be back in the SIXTIES? How are these changes going to get implemented? Who is going to present them to the GOVERNING BODY and then to the NCC for initial consideration?
The one gripe I have had with this forum for years now is that some people feel that they could just come on this forum and TYPE TWO LINES and it will suddenly become INSTANT COMMAND down in Trinidad. That it so absurd it is beyond the limits of reason.
Sort of reminds me of one of the points the CIP outlined in their STRUCTURE PAPER. Doctors and lawyers and business men and bureaucrats and intellectuals should appear before the high and mighty and omnipotent EXECUTIVES and humbly offer advice that the EXECUTIVE might take under consideration in their eminent intellect. Although none of them cannot even run a PAN YARD.
Half them CIP men who talking about MY BAND -- doh really have NO BAND. But they will sit on a throne and evaluate (accept or reject) suggestions given by some of the brightest minds in the country.
I have to look for a next word besides ABSURDITY to describe this level of ARROGANCE!!! And I am being kind to use the word ARROGANCE because another word that I seldom ever use much better describes this MADNESS!!!

My brother,Claude,I always look on the positive side of things,,,,An executive order HAS TO COME FROM THE NCC,THROUGH THE GOVERNMENT,TO PUT THE NO"DJS ON THE ROAD FOR CARNIVAL MONDAY",,,,,, but first the reigning Pan Body,has got to be on board with the idea , and put it forward to them. Really ,it is a simple matter. Once Steelbands know IN ADVANCE,OF THE NEW RULES,,,,I can bet they will find a way to come on the road,,,if it's through their sponsors,,,who by the way can gain a tremendous amount of advertising from their various bands,by way of banners ,tee shirts etc. Claude it's quite possible. The same way All Stars, Exodus,Starlift,Silver Stars, Desperados,Phase Two and many others still come on the road. With the new Executive order banning DJs, even more Steelbands will join the party . Claude just give it a positive thought,,,,maybe you might know someone in high places who can help put this together and make it official before the end of summer. Blessings.

And Diaz going and postpone the elections when October 2018 come. So nothing eh happening (or changing) with PAN in THE MECCA for the next two years!!!
