You should write a letter (proposal) to Colin Lucas outlining your PAN ON THE ROAD FOR CARNIVAL PROJECT. Mr. Lucas is a very approachable man (and a regular guy, despite his life successes) who we all know has been directly involved in the CULTURE of PAN and CALYPSO all his life.

I could give you his direct CHAIRMANSHIP ADDRESS where your PROPOSAL could reach him in a week. Huddle with 2 or 3 PAN ON THE ROADERS from this forum and send down a practical proposal and I am sure that it will be given due consideration by the NEW NCC CHAIRMAN.

  • Cecil: Every time you bring up the PAN ON THE ROAD THING there is a regular cadre of supporters who join your chorus. So it is time for you guys to LOVE PAN ON THE ROAD in THOUGHT, WORD and DEED!!!

Allyuh have been thinking (and talking) about this for a very long time. Now with a PAN ALLY like Colin Lucas running the NCC it is time to refine the THOUGHT and turn it into the WORD phase which is the proposal I suggested. Then once you get the WORD DOCUMENT down to CHAIRMAN LUCAS. And hopefully YOU ALL can take it to the DEED stage where PANS show up on the ROAD FOR CARNIVAL.

You all have both Ainsworth Mohammed and Colin Lucas on the NCC BOARD. So this might be the BEST CHANCE to LIVE YOUR DREAM.

Ah doh mind helping in any way -- even though you WELL KNOW my position!!!

    • I case you didn't know, we also have Mr. KEITH Diaz of Pan Trinbago on the NCC board.
      • Mercer: That is THREE VOTES for PAN ON THE ROAD FOR CARNIVAL WITH PEOPLE PUSHING just like in the SIXTIES. All we need is THREE MORE VOTES and is PAN ON THE ROAD LIKE PEAS FOR CARNIVAL.

They better just make sure that they leave some space open for PAN ON TRUCKS and DEE JAY BIG TRUCKS -- because that is MY KINDA MUSIC. All this OLE IRON knocking and HALF-TUNED PANS NOISING eh my cup of tea no more. Something about "When I was a child ..." but now that donkey cart gone and finely tuned and chromed pans are the NORM -- put them on a BIG TRUCK and I good with that!

But if dem fellahs want me to Help Them Out -- no big sweat!!! Cecil is meh best pardner on the forum (although AQUIL trying hard to knock him into second place) so ah have to support Cecil with the PAN ON THE ROAD TING.

        • Thanks for the info Claude,,,,,It doesn't matter if the Steelbands are being pushed,or they are on floats or trucks,,,the main thing is getting them to come out on the road for the Carnival. I am going to suggest to Mr.Lucas ,that there needs to be some form of financial incentive for the Steelbands ,,,maybe a Bomb Competition as Cecil had originally stated,on Monday,be it Jouvert or Monday evening,,,,also a Calypso Competition ,,,,. If we can get the Avenue ,or Tragarete Rd from beginning of the Avenue just before the Stadium to Green Corner ,and or Tragarete Rd.from long Circular to Green Corner ,,,,,free of DJs from Jouvert to Monday night ,,,and have judging points along the route,,,maybe AdamSmith square on the Avenue or maybe the OVAL ,IF IT'S TRAGARETE RD.,,,,,,JUST SUGGESTIONS,,or if we can get the two so that bands can come from Green Corner and head West on the Avenue and come up to Tragarete Rd,from say Ana st,and then head East back up to Green Corner, which will facilitate the bands coming from Town ,Belmont,or the east,,,and the West bands can come from Long Circular to Green Corner and just make that turn on Park St. up the Avenue. Get some funding for prize money from the various BANKS THAT ARE MAKING HUGE PROFITS EVERY YEAR. PLEASE LET ME GET SOME FEEDBACK ON THESE SUGGESTIONS ,AS I WANT TO HEAR EVERYONE'S IDEAS ON THIS,SO THAT WHEN MR.LUCAS IS CONTACTED,WE WILL HAVE A DEFINITE PLAN. CECIL WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS? Time is tight,so people say something soon ,,,, let's get this done, the time is right. Peace Love and Blessings.
          • Morning Glory, the way I see it is there must be serious planning about this for it to have maximum impact, so for me 2018 definitely out of the question. To start we just want 8-9 hours on the road on Carnival Monday Afternoon, now they must do this away from the DJ trucks, Tragarete Rd, Park St, Fredrick St and around Woodford Sq for a bomb competition. Doing it like this brings the steelband back in the heart of the city where it has an opportunity to grow. We are building a Steelband Street Party here. Some might ask why only 8-9 hours Monday? it's to accommodate the young people, today they like their "dutty" mas j'ouvert and wine and jam Tuesday let them go. I believe any effort to re establish a strong presence of the steelband on the road will receive full support from the business community.

            • Cecil: KEITH DIAZ has alienated the BUSINESS COMMUNITY -- and take that from me. So you CANNOT START AT THE TOP. It has to be a step-by-step project done over a period of years!!!! I have been giving hints about about hiring a MARKETING DIRECTOR -- if ever some honest people take over PAN TRINBAGO.

But DIAZ is going to be there for THREE MORE YEARS -- so your best bet is to go through the NCC ... one step at a time.

    • Ok,Mr Gonzales, can we have the necessary addresses and or phone numbers if you have them please. If you don't have the info don't worry between Cecil and I,I am sure we can get it. AYE BOI PAN ON D ROAD AGAIN,,,,WE GO CHIP AN DANCE AND MASH DOWN PORT OF SPAIN,,,OH GORME IT'S ABOUT TIME,,,TO BRING BACK THE LIME.AN HAVE A GOOD TIME. HAVE A BLESSED THANKSGIVING

    • Cecil you stand a better chance with Ainsworth Mohammed
He would push for "Pan on the Road"
      Bengal Street Boys

  • Sounds like an idea.
