Again, congratulations ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- First Pan Scholarship Announced By Observer News - Monday, June 15th, 2009 The government of Antigua & Barbuda has expanded its scholarship offerings with the inclusion of steel pan studies. In delivering his address at the media launch for the 2009 Carnival celebrations, Culture Minister Eleston Adams announced that the Department of Culture’s Steel Pan Division in collaboration with the Prime Minister’s Silver Jubilee Scholarship Programme secured a scholarship for pannist Khan Cordice. Cordice will pursue a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Musical Arts with a concentration on steel pan, at the University of the West Indies St Augustine Campus in Trinidad and Tobago, commencing in September. “If our rich cultural heritage is to survive and grow, we must equip our young people with the necessary skills and qualifications. It is our belief that young Khan Cordice will make Antigua & Barbuda proud in his studies,” the minister said. As a young pannist, Cordice plays for the Hell’s Gate Steel Orchestra and is also the arranger for the National Steel Orchestra. He has also been credited with the winning arrangement for the first-ever 25-a-side competition in last year’s Gemonites Moods of Pan Festival. __________________________________________________________________________ click for interview with Cordice

  • Mr. Cordice,
I have to clarify something. I put the carriage in front of the horse. I meant out of 100 double second pannist,
I am at 100, not a 1. Sorry If I came off as being a "good" panman, I am a much better listener than a player.

    Sincerely,
    Ian Franklin

movement gets that kind of recognition. We have come a long way and there is still a lot to do and Khan a lot rests on your
young shoulders as depending on your progress others would be able to follow.May GOD bless you and help you to be
successful. You will be remembered in our prayers.
