  • After hearing Pan Am North Stars and Syncopators at the 1966 music festival I purchased the album because of that tune and then a while was amazed at the Flamingoes version and bought that too. It was an excellent bomb tune by Flamingoes. I would like to know who arranged it.Maybe Salah can say.

  • Fell in love with this version when I first heard it in a party in the early 70s. Flamingoes - Poets and Peasants

  •   DESPERADOES: THE BLACK ALBUM FEATURING .GREATEST LOVE OF ALL. ALSO PAN IS BEAUTIFUL V WORLD STEELBAND FESTIVAL Volumes 1, 2 and 3...featuring Rhapsody in blue, Phase II; Slavonic Rhapsody, Valley Harps; March Slave, Desperadoes; Capriccio Italien, All Stars..etc.

  • ODW thanks for all the nice posts. I am appointing you "musical post director" for the forum.lol. My choice is easy. They have all dead heated for first place, adding Poet and Peasants by Syncopators to the list.

    • City Syncopators - Poets and Peasents

  • Claude Gonzales, That's for sure,Silver Stars, whether they win or loose . But this piece is really EARTH SHAKING  ( LIKE AN EARTHQUAKE).

  • Nice topic. I just cannot pick one. My three will be North Stars' "Ivory and Steel" from 1969, "Despers Classics Vol. one" from 1969 and Starlift"s live performance of "Natasha" in 1978. The 1982 and 1988 recordings of Pan is Beautiful are also up there (lol)

  • The Album "Ivory and Steel" with Panam North stars and Winifred Atwell as the greatest Recording ever,

  • My choice would be Despers 1966 - Triple Crown Winners and if I recall correctly the only steelband double LP ever produced

    • Desperadoes "Czardas" 1966 "Bomb" Competition Winner
