West Virginia, USA - It's a tropical beat that is recognized all over the world.
The Mannette Festival of Steel being held in Morgantown is exposing the steel pan community to new works of steelband music and providing an opportunity for composers to showcase their works.
"From all different parts of the U.S., we come to collaborate with steel pan arrangers, celebrity arrangers, form all over the world," said Duvone Stewart, Faculty Teacher.
Various performances have been held throughout the week, featuring pan artists from all over the country.

....Ellie Mannette, known as the "The father of the modern steel pan instrument" resides in Morgantown. He has been a big part of the evolution of the steel drum.
