Meeting tomorrow as executives allegedly got paid 1 month’s salary out of the 8 million that N.C.C has for pan men and the bands.

By Aquil Arrindell

September 18th, 2018at Communication Workers Union Hall,146 Henry Street, Port of Spain, from 5pm to 9pm (tomorrow). That’s the date for the reconvened meeting, due to the fact that at the last meeting, none of the executive knew what was the number of financial bands. Therefore, to ere on the side of caution, the members decided to postpone the meeting. According to the constitution, whosoever attends the reconvened meeting makes up a quorum.

In an interview over the telephone, Mr. Photo expressed the concern that he was not given sufficient time to circulate the notice as it was only last week Wednesday that he received instructions from Mr. Diaz in writing. Therefore, there would only be three working days’ notice. He said that he had sent a letter expressing that concern and had not received an answer. He also reminded the president that the office did not have electricity or internet which would pose a problem. Mr. Photo explained the proper thing to do was to announce the next date of the meeting on the same day it was adjourned. However, instead of doing what was right by pan people, Diaz picked himself up and left for London the same night, without informing the members. And according to photo, it was on NCC’s strength after Mr. Diaz signed a document which sold out the organization.

Mr. Diaz admitted that the trip was an NCC funded trip. But he also reveled that NCC paid all Pan Trinbago employees’ salaries for one month due to the signing of the document. Mr. Diaz also said that as much as Photo was saying that the document was a sell out, he was the first to rush to the bank when the money was paid. CIP members investigated that payment of salaries, and it was discovered that it was paid from the 8 million that N.C.C have for the pan men and the bands.

After hearing the complaint about the inadequacy of the number of days to notify members, CIP members recommended to Mr. Diaz that the meeting be pushed back by two days, however our recommendation was ignored. Members of the CIP believe that both the Photo and Diaz factions of the executive are doing things contrary to constitution to take each other to court to delay the election in an effort the to stay in office by default. Whether Photo’s faction will contest the decisions made at tomorrow’s meeting in court is left to be seen. But what we do know, based on his admission, is that he and his group will be there to defend themselves. The CIP’s main concern at this point is to have them settle on a date for elections because based on information from our sources, Pan Trinbago would not get any money to pay pan people under this executive and not until they demit office would pan people be paid.

Please send your delegates and make a contribution. CIP says that if you are not a part of the solution then you are a part of the problem.
