New York Champion Arranger Ken “Professor” Philmore Dies From Injuries Sustained In Vehicular Accident In Trinidad

Global - Music lovers are mourning the loss of steelband icon Ken “Professor” Philmore who passed away around 9:30 a.m. on Sunday 30, 2018. Philmore had been badly injured in a vehicular accident on September 24 in his homeland of Trinidad.

....The talent and skill set of Philmore as a performing artist, composer and arranger have been utilized worldwide.  As arranger for New York's Sonatas Steel Orchestra, “Pro”—as he was affectionately known—took the championship steel orchestra to six New York steelband Panorama titles in the 1980s.

The legendary steelpan performing artist was also looked upon as an “Ambassador” of the steelband art form, having been in continuous demand around the world.

Accolades and condolences continue to pour in from around the globe as admirers and musicians learn of Philmore’s passing.
