My Dad Bertrand ''Pewatt"Morris

by Marlene Gomez

Bert,Pewee as was called by many was born on 20th October1935 and died on 26th February 1996. My dad was truly a devoted father to his 11 children, 7 boys and 4 girls and was self- employed as a steel pan entrepreneur and tuner .He worked at his home to support his family. His job was making small steelpans to sell on the Port to the Tourists whenever the Ships came in .This was not an easy task as my mother was a house wife but my dad with the help from God, my Grandmother and Aunt ,daddy was able to give us our needs not wants.

Bert was the founder, captain and teacher of Windside Pangroove Steel Ochestra.

Every young boy, man and woman in the community came to learn to play the pan from my dad. He was really a mentor and good role model to his sons and many who knew him.
Daddy we love you and will always be in our hearts and I know one day I'll see you again in that beautiful shore with Jesus!!
