  • Executive tries to replace Diaz as commissioner on NCC board.
    By Aquil Arrindell
    Bacchanal in the country,
Dictator Diaz bawl like a cow
    Somebody try to replace he
    They want him out now
It is alleged that the executive met to discuss and appoint a representative of Pan Trinbago (a
commissioner) to the N.C.C. board. Against the backdrop that the N.C.C. act did not specifically
say that the president of the organisation must be the representative, Pan Trinbago’s executive
deliberated and voted for someone as is the custom. Based on reports, through the same
democratic process that the president insists the pan movement use to get him out, a vote was
taken and d Shepherd was the executive’s choice. In true dictatorship style, the president refused
to accept the decision of the executive. The president would now be on the N.C.C. board
representing himself and not the organization.
To the executive, the N.C.C. is the enemy, so strategically, using D shepherd in the N.C.C. is a
brilliant idea. Now, most of us in the pan movement know that if you are playing dolly house,
don’t invite D shepherd to even plait your dolly hair or your game will end up in chaos. Once d
shepherd gets into any organization he divides the executive, separates the leader from his key
soldiers and when successful, he then undermines the leader’s authority. All in an effort to
ascend to the top. The only problem is that people have been able to make him out as the
deceitful man he is early in the game and get rid of him. Even now, after two years in his three-
year term as an executive officer, the pan fraternity wants him out. Do your own investigation
on him and ask the bandleaders he has arranged for throughout the years. Ask why it was
dangerous to have him around their bands.
I digress. As I said at the AGM, the members have lost confidence in the president; the
government has lost confidence in the president; the public has lost confidence in the president
and the executive has lost confidence in the president. What can he do for the pan fraternity in
the next year other than draw an under $30,000.00 a month salary. Things are going south rapidly
my brothers and sisters. Let’s sign the petition and get this executive out now.
  • See how allyuh bad , Claude ?

You chose to say "Dollar Wine" in charge , but I say a real panman claiming what is his !

  • odw: read the passage from YOUR ARTICLE that I specifically selected.

I think that the author is pointing out the folly of the management of the NCC.

PAN TRINBAGO and KEITH DIAZ have NOTHING TO DO WITH THAT!!!

    • Claude clearly the Dr. is firmly charge. The days of the old boys network is over.   Where is The Photo?  Last year the Photo was on tv disrespectfully barking at the Minister and essentially calling her a little girl.  What a difference a year makes.

      bugs

      • Bugs: If I were you -- as a MOVIE PRODUCER -- I would be keeping a very low profile lest some young ladies come out and start making accusations against you in the press. Right now it looks like you are more likely to go to CLUB JAIL than both ROLLY POLLY and FORTEAU.

DOLLY forgive dem fellahs and EVERYTHING is EVERYTHING!!!

  • Lucas at the helm...

With its new leadership, including a one-time soca star at the helm, the National Carnival Commission (NCC) must now set a course which allows it to bring all stakeholders on board under a revitalised vision for Carnival.

The challenge for Lucas, a former Port Authority chairman, who was last week appointed NCC chairman, is both short-term and long-term. He must oversee the smooth unrolling of Carnival 2018. But he must also come up a plan of action to produce and implement a fresh policy that takes Carnival out of the doldrums.

Lucas, best known for his 1991 smash hit Dollar Wine, is quite candid when it comes to what he can achieve at this late hour. “While I can’t claim to be an expert on Carnival – and I’m not required to be actually – I am just required to make sure we can bring the best talent to bear on making Carnival the best it can be,” he said, moments after receiving his instrument of appointment.

For sure, Lucas and the new board have already started their task at a disadvantage. The term of the last board, headed by Kenny DeSilva, came to an end at the start of this month. With mere weeks to go before Carnival, the NCC must now undergo transition from one board to the next. This is not only distracting, it adds unnecessary burden on those who volunteer their time to serve and disrupts the line of accountability essential to ensure quality in the delivery of the NCC’s statutory mandate.

The tenure of NCC officials should be structured in such a way as to ensure transitions do not clash with preparations; enable accountability; and give them enough time to familiarize themselves with the rhythms of the organization.

INCOMPETENCE on the part of the MINISTER OF CULTURE. She was too busy working out DEALS with KEITH DIAZ and FORTEAU.

      • This new committee has quite a task on their hands, the biggest being no spectators in the North and Grand stands Carnival days. This is a perfect way to measure the success of your event, if nobody coming out to see it yuh in trouble. And the main culprit is the big bands with their deafening DJ trucks THEY KILL CARNIVAL. The first order of the day for the new committee is to admit carnival dead and a complete makeover is needed.

        • Claude, how could you claim “incompetence”? If it relates to the timeliness for the committee installation I can understand, it doesn't change the picture on the ground.  Don't blame Dr. Dolly, Pan Trinbago keep coming-up “SHORT” every panorama with pan musicians pay.

What leverage they could have negotiating with DR. Dolly???  Accept yuh hand-out or as Chalkdust say STAND on yuh own two feet or come to the table from a position of STRENGTH, not with yuh back against the wall with allegations of impropriety.

          From Keith Diaz as quoted…

Keith Diaz, president of Pan Trinbago Inc, said on Tuesday: “I wish to state very clearly that the economic situation in the country is faced by all Trinbagonians; all of us. In the pan movement we will try and work with whatever allocation is given to us by government for the 2017 National Panorama competition.

“We would also like to state in other areas we will like to have continued dialogue with government in plans that Pan Trinbago has to carry the movement forward. We are a part of this nation and we would like to be heard as I think that we also have valuable suggestions that will redound beneficial to the entire national community. The pan factory is one of the projects that we know can boost business in our beloved country, creating employment for many.”

Diaz added: “I hope to meet with the Culture Minister soon to discuss when Pan Trinbago will get any outstanding moneys so that we will be able to facilitate the payment of outstanding stipends to pan people.” http://www.guardian.co.tt/lifestyle/2016-10-14/culture-bodies-have-...

  • I see Mr Diaz is on this committee, this tells us the Minister value what he can bring to the table. I wish them good luck.
