Pan-Ossia gets a sponsor in time for Panorama

It’s official, “Waggy-T Pan Ossia”. One of the youngest and better performing steel-bands in Grenada has been adopted by the Waggy-T Brand.

Pan Ossia which originates from Gouyave in St. John, became the first and only steel-band group ever to be sponsored by Waggy-T Rentals and Sound Company. The 75 member grouping was informed by Mr. Wayne “Waggy-T” Redhead of his company’s decision during a recent meeting.

Ossias’ Manager Norris Bernard described the sponsorship as “the best thing” that has happened to the group since its formation in 2009.

“Just hearing that “Waggy-T” has sponsored our band resulted in our players showing more interest in practice and it has boosted their level of confidence especially as we are preparing for this year’s junior and senior panorama competitions, Bernard explained.

He said “Waggy-T” has indicated his company’s willingness to sponsor the entire group and they believe that the value of the sponsorship is worth more than dollars and cents since “Waggy-T” is known to be a leader in the promotion and entertainment industry and such a relationship can provide an opportunity for the band to gain more exposure.

In 2011, Pan Ossia placed second in the national panorama competition and third in the national bomb-tune competitions in 2011 and 2012 respectively.

Meanwhile on completion of their Spicemas activities Ossia will embark on a series of training sessions for interested persons to learn to play the pan and a computer training program for young people in St. John.

The band is known to have donated supplies to the St. John Anglican Primary School in Gouyave.
