Today February 10, 2017 marks one year since the murder of Japanese panist Asami Nagakiya. In remembrance of this special musician, the Codrington Pan Family has created a video in her honor. Many Thanks to Khari and the Codrington family for remembering a great pan musician from Japan Asami Nagakiya, with their wonderful and poignant renditions of her musical pan creations and other classics beautifully arranged and professionally presented. The editing was also sensitively done and creatively inspiring.
I hope we will be able to be graced with a concert soon in North America by this very talented family and musical ensemble of dignified pan virtuosos, who proudly represent Trinidad's national instrument and musical culture. This brought tears to my eyes for a variety of reasons.
