First let me state that I have no affiliation to or preference for any band.
I heard every Medium and Large Band staying to the end.
I recorded the event on TV and have listened to some particular performances many times and I find some results totally incomprehensible.
With all due respect to Starlift, they had the worst tonal quality of all the bands, eighty mediocre players, and an average arrangement, yet, they are placed Ninth.
There is no way I can reconcile Starlift beating Renegades, Angel Harps, Skiffle Bunch or Birdsong.
When I used to attend the musical festival at Queens Hall years ago, the Ajudicators would announce the marks and comments publicly for all to hear.
I really believe that the Judges score sheets, with comments, should be published on the PanTrinbago web site immediately for all to see and be enlightened. Surely there is nothing to hide and it would be very educational.
On the question of Birdsong. Maybe people should listen to them again. Although maybe not a winning performance, it was a lovely piece of music. I guess to qualify one needs to play as many notes as possible at the fastest tempo possible to be considered good.
