The Musical Director of the steel band that won the 2017 Panorama competition feels that while the steel pan art form is flourishing, it will not survive without the money that it needs.

Khan Cordice did the arrangement for the Flow Hell’s Gate Steel Orchestra – the band that swept to victory in Friday night’s Panorama competition playing King Obstinate’s song “Jumpy”. The second runner-up in the competition was the Gemonites Steel Orchestra while the Halcyon Steel Orchestra placed first runner-up.

Cordice told OBSERVER media he wanted to see more community involvement and private sector contribution to steel bands in Antigua & Barbuda, adding that the government cannot be expected to fund everything.
