As the battle for 14-17 Park Street Port of Spain intensifies, new alliances are being formed, old ones are being undermined, chatter is loud, and propaganda and smear campaigns are being mounted, I would like to bring some credibility to the discussion.
Straight to the point, I may have been reliably informed of the following facts, as we would say, "straight from the horses' mouths" (sourced from more that one horse), although candy coated and camouflaged by some elements inclined to be economical with the truth, and walk the fence intent on jumping to any side that seems to have the advantage;
- There is mutiny at 14-17 Park Street Port of Spain.
- The Secretary may be commanding the support of The Treasurer, The Public Relations Officer, The External Relations Officer, and both Trustees,
- The President may be standing alone.
In an attempt to wrest power, and maintain their stranglehold on the organization, the incumbent executive may have embarked on a smear campaign calculated to discredit each other, and their estranged boss, and absolve themselves of complicity in any activity that may have been questioned by the fraternity.
It is rumored that the following list may comprise names of those who may have also discreetly, and/or openly launched election/re-election campaign/s, with their sight on the top post/s, having knowledge of the fact that the sitting President may not be offering himself for re-election;
- Richard Forteau - Sound Specialists.
- Keith Bayer - Diatonics (An example of the advantages of the delegate system).
- Carlon Harewood - Potential Symphony.
- Vernon Morancie - TAMANA PIONEERS????
- Keron Valentine - Newtown Playboyz.

Who will rise from the rank and file to lead the fraternity at the conclusion of this war after self inflicted wounds and friendly fire defeats it's principals?

IF these are the candidates seeking the top post/s, eye as a VOTER would like to know what QUALIFICATIONS they possess to take on the LEADERSHIP role at the World Governing Body for the Steel Pan?
Have them post their resume’/CV and list their accomplishments. Have them describe HOW they define SUCCESS.

If I may attempt to respond to Mr. Gittens' question, are you suggesting sir ,that if one inherits an estate, he inherits that estate's debts, and that the assets of the inherited estate should be used to honor the debts of the former owner/s?
That concern may be very low on the agenda of anyone of the names alleged to be interested in the top position/s.
The mobilization of what i choose to refer to as the GHOST BANDS, and PERIPHERAL OUTFITS (not bonafide steelbands ), may very well be what is engaging the attention of those intent on manipulating the delegate system to their advantage.
The general consensus among the rank and file of the fraternity seems to be that those reported to be expressing interest in running for office, does not command the respect, and cannot attract the support of the majority of bonafide steelbands, possibly creating a window of opportunity for real change.
Forgive me Sir, I see no change on the horizon, except the "powers that be", (the hands that throw in the tax payers dollars year after year) decide to dissolve this madness, once and for ALL, because they simply cant afford it.
