The CIP has betrayed the pan movement; Diaz is still in charge because a deal was struck.

By Aquil Arrindell

I must admit that after all the celebration and exuberance, many of us who head the resistance were still not on solid ground as to what was decided in the final arrangement. This is due to the atmosphere of the meeting in its final stages. The membership was on edge and they just wanted at that point to vote and go.

People who were not at the meeting had concerns about the president and treasurer staying on the new executive. They even went as far as accusing CIP members, including myself, of cooking up a deal with Diaz. They claimed that Gregory Lindsay got money from Diaz; Dane and Mendez were on Diaz’ program and even Ramsey-Moore and Tobey (non-CIP member) were hugging up Diaz now.  So let me clear the air on some of these allegations.

  1. I have always spoken about the love I have for Mr. Diaz, however, because of his wrongdoings, I cannot support him. He has been abusive to me over the phone and in public and for this I do not entertain any conversation with Mr. Diaz up to this date. However, if he approaches in a civilized manner I will have no problem speaking with him. Again, Mr. Diaz and I haven’t spoken to each other over a year now.

  1. Gregory Lindsay’s band, again, let me emphasize, his bandapplied for a loan which the executive approved, Mr. Diaz does not have the authority to give anybody Pan Trinbago’s money. All bands are within their rights to seek assistance from the organization. That is why they are in existence, to help us when in need.

  1. Dane Golstan in nearly every interview said “it is nothing personal. There are issues that need to be dealt with, which have nothing to do with the relationship between the executive members and me”. Most of the CIP members share the same sentiment. Dane was offered an opportunity to call out the forces to the meeting on Mr. Diaz’ program and it was wise of him to accept.

  1. Mrs. Ramsey Moore, Mr. Toby and the CIP, see no need to fight the president. He has put up the white flag and he is ready to go. He admitted he was wrong and he can no longer represent the organization in a meaningful way. He wants an early election and we want an early election. Due to this, it would be foolish to continue wasting time and energy fighting someone who is working towards the same outcome. It is the rest of the executive who insist that they should stay, so all of our efforts would now be towards rooting out these power hungry pan vampires.

As for Diaz being on the new executive, it is something that CIP members are not in favour of. However, the membership willed it, therefore we must concede. The CIP brought the original motion to the floor (a motion is like a suggestion) which was put to the floor for the membership to debate. Different amendments to the motion happened throughout the 4-hour meeting. One of the amendments was persona non grata on all executive members, which I would personally like to see. Unfortunately, or fortunately, depending on where you sit, through discussion, that was removed. Some staff workers who are also delegates were present at the meeting, and they were concerned about pay. Bands also had that concern as NCC is allegedly about to release some money to the organization. So in order to ensure staff and bands don’t suffer any further, the CIP conceded to the wishes of the membership and the amendment made was accepted. It was quite evident that membership does not want Diaz or the Treasurer around Pan Trinbago’s business but there is an immediate need to keep them around. Coming to the end of the meeting the membership was irritated and they just wanted to get it over with.

For those people who have a problem with the outcome, I am making an appeal to you. Come and be a part of the decision making process. Do not let other people decide for you. Come to meetings and make your voices heard. Now that we are finally allowed to have motions moved, your suggestions could determine the new direction of the organization.

    • So Mr. Auqil

Now that you have proper representation a campaign manager/fixer you can answer a few questions I have as far as your vision for pan. Which model do you believe in - the promotion of personalities within a band or the promotion of the steelband franchise?  For example, the National Basketball Association is currently a star driven league. This mode of operation was cultivated and championed by the former NBA commissioner David Stern with much success.

      • Mr. bugs, where are you from...... is cannabis legal where you from? how you does actually come up the that high grade questions....

        • Aquil

I would like to believe that the concept of a Pan Trinbago can be more than an incompetent bandit factory.

Aquil you have to see yourself there before you get there - so that  you will have a chance of success when or if you get there.

Claude please tell Aquil to answer the question.

          bugs

          • bugs: THE STEELBAND is the incubator which nourishes the musical growth of POTENTIAL PAN STARS. A big part of the PAN TRINBAGO AGENDA should be to POLISH these emerging PAN STARS and market them INTERNATIONALLY.

    • Aquil: I don't want to see you using the word "DESPERATE" (in any of its derived forms) on THIS FORUM. I was the first person in this political iteration to use that word to describe the POWER HUNGRY AFRICANS.

And remember that the ELECTION CAMPAIGN eh even START YET!!!

  • This is a real Pan Trinbago question....

the man with the lead role in this movie, what is his pay?.....lol

  • Aquil you are not ready for Prime Time.

    1. You should never speak Diaz again - civilized or not. You don't get it. He aimed at your head and pulled the trigger. Somehow you survived. Why would you speak to the gangsta that killed you. Do realize how surprised he is that you are still alive? Gangsta rules say he must finish you off. Or you will get sense one day and finish him off.
    2. Gregory Lindsay will never be able to live this down. The visuals of this stinks. It will be easier for Trump to dissociate himself from Russia than Gregory from Rolly Polly. They are stuck togather for life. It's over for Gregory.
    3. Are you suffering from a concussion? Dane going on Diaz show is not okay. All that Internet capital that CIP built up so that you guys can have your own means for communication waisted.  Do you think that it okay for Trump to go on Russian TV and say there was no collusion?
    4. Tell Tobago to leave the union. Beverly Ramsey has lost all creditability. Rolly Polly slapped her in face in broad daylight. He put her in the grave and doo-doo on it. Now she back as a ghost saying one-love with Rolly Polly? You is ah mad man Aquil?
