Trinidad & Tobago, W.I. - A new Tobago House of Assembly (THA) Pan Champ (Large) will be crowned tomorrow, Friday 17 February at the end of the annual Tobago Region/Tobago House of Assembly (THA)-staged steelband competition. The venue is the Parade Square in Bacelot, Tobago, sister isle of Trinidad.

Last year’s winner, Redemption Sound Setters, has Tobagoopted out of competitions and as such the field is open in that category - but the band will be on the road on Carnival Monday and Tuesday.

Both Metro Stars (Single Pan Band) and Our Boys (Small Steel Orchestra) will be defending their respective titles.

Over all, a total of fifteen steel orchestras will vie for the title of THA Pan Champs in their various categories.

The bands are:- Metro Stars, Hope Pan Groovers and Natural Mystic in the Single Pan Bands category.

Our Boys, Tobago Pan-Thers, Crown Cordaans, Uptown Fascinators, New East Side Dimension, Steel Sensation and Alpha Pan Pioneers will compete in the Small Steel Orchestra category.

Steel Xplosion, Katzenjammers and Buccooneers, West Side Symphony and Dixieland will do musical battle in the Large Band category.

Junior bands will have their “moment of glory” at their very own Junior Panorama on Monday 20 February at the Signal Hill Comprehensive School. Nine bands have registered.

All steelbands will be competing for cash prizes and the THA Challenge Trophies.
