Just got some report concerning bands from the East.
Cheques again this morning had to be returned...leaving a trail of more mess now that some bands received and cashed their cheques and some bands had to return their cheques..... When will the government officially step in and correct this situation? The government bankrolls the pan organization 100% ...it is getting to be more disgracefull each passing moment.

I find it strange that after 60 odd years no one, either in Government or Steelbands' men/women have ever mentioned the likelyhood of forming a co-operative society based on the Co-operative Societies act of 1971 Trinidad and Tobago.
It seems to me the ideal candidate for such an organisation. it would make it extremely difficult for anyone irrespective of standing to buy Audi Q7s or BMWs without the full consent of its members.
a Steelband co-operative would be obliged to raise income, pay dividends and in doing so come under the full scrutiny of its members and the public alike.
Every day someone in T and T spouts the words "transparency" "accountability" and such like without any commitment to the cause.
If you are truly committed to being a developed nation by 2020, you can start by dismantling the structures that support corruption. Be open and honest, that will bring about trust and above all create development and sow the seeds of prosperity. There would be few places the greedy can hide if such an organisation were formed and be made/ bound by law to abide by this Act.
The business model would be such that fund raising, shared profits, educational scholarships and the like can all be achieved.

I thought that it was a criminal offense to write a bad cheque.... so who will be accepting the charges for this, PanTrinbago or the Government.....and by the way, has any money been paid out for the bands that participated in the International Panorama ?
I was afraid of this. I was wondering "who funded" when I heard some panist cheques were cleared even up to today.

Short version, Ian. Diaz put some of the money in the bank and then went to the NCC to try to get them to cover THE REST. DOCTOR DOLLY misread the situation and decided not to put up the rest of the money. Diaz had a heart attack ... and checks started bouncing on Monday!!!!
