  • The combo era was a special era of Trinidad's musical evolution and deserves to be highlighted.

Though smaller than the popular dance bands of the day, they grew into popular, highly skilled professional music groups.

Many emphasized a more modern rock and roll sound and the featured instruments became the guitar and keyboard.

The combos also introduced lead vocalists to Trinidad dance bands for the first time, since they were never featured with the big dance bands.

The above list is a good one  , and I would include Johnny Lee and the Hurricanes, and Bert Bailey and the Jets.

Somehow, I want to include Gemini Brass among the combos, even though they included a horn section.

There were many others, and I would be remiss if I did not mention the combo we started on our "gallery" in Marabella, Silhouettes Combo. They were around for a while , and had some success after I left T&T.
