This HD Video is Part 1 of a unique two-part series chronicling Beija-Flor’s championship performance in Rio’s Sambadromo starting at 11:10 pm on Monday, February 16, 2015. The two HD videos are chapters in Paul Hodge's incredible February, 2015 HD Video Book "Rio Carnival 2015". Paul's book is the first ever HD video book published on YouTube with 65 chapters and 12+ hours of edited, original videos taken of the Greatest Party on Earth, Rio de Janeiro's Carnival 2015 Celebration from February 13 through February 18, 2015. Beija-Flor’s performance theme went back to Brazil’s African roots with the enredo: “Um griô conta a história: Um olhar sobre a África e o despontar da Guiné Equatorial. Caminhemos sobre a trilha de nossa felicidade” (A griot [a West African storyteller] tells the story: A look at Africa and the emergence of Equatorial Guinea. Let us walk on the path of our happiness.) The Beija-Flor parade told the history of Africa and especially Equatorial Guinea, the biggest oil producer on the continent. The 3,800 components should show the “different Africas that are part of the history of Brazil”, as the description of the theme states. The school from Nilópolis will sing about “the African king, who never lost faith, he was my brother, son of Guinea” and “rescue my African soul”, but also touch on such things as the arrival of the Portuguese in the country and slavery. Paul's "Rio Carnival 2015" HD Video Book 's is incredibly unique to YouTube because: 1) all Paul's videos are in fantastic HD, 720p, 2) Paul's coverage of Rio Carnival 2015 is the most comprehensive because it includes the diverse Rio preparatory activities, block parties and celebrations leading up to, during and after Carnival's official dates of February 13 through February 18, 2015 and 3) Paul's amazing HD videos of Carnival's famed Samba School Parade Competitions were taken by Paul from the vantage point of highly prized Sapucai/Sambadromo ground level, front row box seats which literally immerse you in the uplifting energy generated from the wonderful music, dance and joyful celebrations!
