  • To Gordon and his question

I guess the answer is NO. Talk done.

  • Hey Gordon,

are you  familiar with Exo's  music over the last few years? You might want to soften that tone about being "insulting to calypsonians" with Pelham if you do, and walk it back.  You are very, very, very out of line there.

The music the band has done over the last few years have been stuff of those particular years. Unlike other arrangers who year after year go with "old stuff" and others frequently, if not every year, Pelham and Exo don't do that.  I'm too lazy to go all the way back, but I know that Pelham is one of those who goes with the "new stuff."  Heck, I can't remember when last he did something old with Exo.  You're barking up the wrong tree here, and owe that gentleman an apology for your statement and tone.

A couple of things to keep in mind, a) this tune Gold is one that is close to Pelham's heart, so he might have been eager to give it another spin, many years later, with another band, b) arrangers are not always the one with final decision in making the choice of what to play, so this may not even be all Pelham, d)  he is not breaking any rules of the competition by doing Gold, he is abiding them as currently set out by panTrinbago, and e) as I said before Exo plays current music generally, the same cannot be said for very many bands, since the joke known as "Pan Trinbago" and in this case when it was headed by Patrick Arnold decided to make this backwards arse decision of regression.

  • Mr. Pelham Goddard,

As a respected composer and arranger, I would like to ask you what made you go back in time? I think by you doing that was insulting to the calypsonians who spent the time and energy to compose tunes for the pan. Are you trying to say that none of them made a calypso worthy of you?

  • I think it is truly ridiculous that they allowing bands to play panorama tunes from years gone by. What's going on? The calypsoes today not good enough for panorama? I think its a travesty. All this will accomplish is our culture taking a step backward. Who ever came up with this idea should be made to apologise to the calypsonian fraternity. I am not criticising the old calypsoes. They are all gems in my mind. But this is Panorama 2013, not 1976 or any previous year. Come on people. Old calypsoes are nice but new tunes for new panorama.
