Join world-class performers for a spectacular celebration of Caribbean music on the waterfront at beautiful Virginia Beach! At Virginia Arts Festival’s 10th Annual PANorama Caribbean Music Fest, you will have the opportunity to learn from Steelpan virtuosos,compete with up and coming U.S. steelbands, and bask in the sun and ocean breezes. 

 

FRIDAY, MAY 11

WORKSHOPS

Tom Miller (high pans), Maureen Clement (middlepans), and Dr. LennardMoses (low pans) will present sectional workshops concurrently, followed by an interactive Engine Room clinic and Mass Steelband performance. These workshops are open to anyone with their own instruments and desire to learn, including bands participating in the festival.

SATURDAY, MAY 12

COMPETITION AND AWARDS

All ensembles will receive a large trophy which will be presented at the stage following the festival. A medal, if earned, representing the appropriate rating, will be draped around the trophy.

Ratings will be awarded as follows:

Superior Rating: 100–91 . . . . Gold Medal

Excellent Rating: 90–81 . . . . Silver Medal

Good Rating: 80–70 . . . . . Bronze Medal

Participation Rating: Below 70 . . . . No Medal

$1000 Grand Champion Award

$250 Award for winners of subcategories:
