Drum Boogie Festival in Woodstock on Saturday celebrates percussion in all its forms

WOODSTOCK, N.Y. >> Celebrate the diversity of percussion sounds at the Drum Boogie Festival Saturday at Andy Lee Field.

At 6 p.m. festival favorites, NYU Steel, a 25-piece steel pan band, brings the sounds of steel drums like those heard in the New York City Subway or cruise ships to Woodstock.

“It’s really exciting music that people love to dance to,” Kvistad said.

Their set will mix traditional Caribbean music with the contemporary music of Phillip Glass, he added.

“Phillip Glass is very well known in this world,” Kvistad said.
