A pan that can take a licking... Is this a lost art?

In the past, tuners like Bassman and Leo Coker took pride in making pans that could "take licks." When they "locked a note", it maintained its tonal quality, regardless of how hard it was struck. 

Is this a lost art?

  • In This modern era of pan if a pan could take licks we should not beat the he'll out of it we should always play pan soft or loud.
