‘Leave De Panman Money Alone’

sung by Emmanuel “Oba” Sinnette
composed by Curtis Edwards

Verse 1
All ah them like dey getting kicks
With dey stupid pan politics
While de panman and woman working without a cent
Experiment (real patient)
And development (true commitment)
To the steelpan de national instrument
More than three scores and ten of tradition
Our fore fathers to this nation
Dedication
Since the 40’s we have toil from dusk till dawn

Chorus
Gypsy what wrong with yuh head
Like yuh goin out yuh mind
Why yuh want to take the panman small bread
Boy yuh steppin out a line
Why yuh want to do de panman dat
4 million and more yuh gave to Sat
What about the nation’s instrument
Cutting out we little employment
All yuh want to do my friend is to kill the pan movement
We watchin yuh
Panmen sayin to yuh
No Gypsy Leave de money
We does work real hard for steelband* (1) to leave dey yard Gypsy (repeat up to steelband*)
(2) leave dey yard Gypsy leave de small money

Verse 2

In the islands of T&T
Carnival is an industry
That does bring a lot ah money in this country
One billion (one billion)
To the nation (fix the panman)
What about those who really make it happen
Is the pan and the mas and the calypso
Who does work real real hard for big show
Show some respect

Chorus
Gypsy what wrong with yuh head
Like yuh goin out yuh mind
Why yuh want to take the little blackboy bread
Boy yuh steppin out a line
Why yuh want to do de panman dat
4 million and more yuh gave to Sat
What about the nation’s instrument
Cutting out we little employment
All yuh want to do my friend is to kill the pan movement
We watchin yuh
Panmen sayin to yuh
No Gypsy Leave de money
We does work real hard for steelband to leave dey yard (repeat) leave dey yard Gypsy leave de small money.

Verse 3

The steelpan is an invention
From some people like Spree Simon
Tony Williams and all the brothers who gave a hand
Is fire (is fire)
Wind and water (plenty water)
It does take to make the steelpan answer
Now the world they now know of the steelpan
Yet we don’t want to show to the panman
Appreciation
For the work that he has done for this great land

Chorus
Gypsy what wrong with yuh head
Like yuh goin out yuh mind
Why yuh want to take the panman small bread
Boy yuh steppin out a line
Why yuh want to do de panman dat
4 million and more yuh gave to Sat
What about the nation’s instrument
Cutting out we little employment
All yuh want to do my friend is to kill the pan movement
We watchin yuh
Panmen sayin to yuh
No Gypsy Leave de money
We does work real hard for steelband to leave dey yard (repeat) leave dey yard Gypsy leave de small money.

Whatever forum we use the highlight the plight of the panman and expose Gypsy as the Vulure Minister is good.

This song was well composed. We need strong leadership to stop this Madman 'Gypsy.'

I hope many more voices will be raised to support our pan-culture and remove the veil of hypocrisy that our own Black Brother Vultural Minister Winston ' Gypsy' Peters hides behind. We 'Did not vote for that.'

Maybe the jobs that he is demanding for HIS SUPPORTERS in the URP cannot be demanded in the Pan Fraternity so he is comfortable with mashing that up. Idiotic suggestions like a carnival in October for Tobago. They want to put POLITICS in every thing. I will not be surprised if he want to replace Panorama with Tassarama.  LEAVE PANMEN ALONE
excellent, well done curtis.

"Vultural Minister"

hahaha, good one Mr Young - was that a typo? Or a clever thing you typed there on purpose ??
