Today December 1st - -my dear mother (Iris Wilson) celebrated her 96th birthday. I give thanks and praise to the Almighty for this simply wonderful thing called life. My Mom has always been a strong supporter of the pan. Her mother ( my grandmother Mena) used her property to house the first Flamingoes steelband in the village of St.John in St. Augustine. Her husband (my Dad) has been around in the "Iron Band" days. Her four sons Ken, Don Patrick and Salah are all still involved with pan. Her brother Bob Theroulde (my uncle), has been the pioneer founder and leader behind the original Flamingoes, Gay Flamingoes, Harmonettes (not Harmonites) and also Exodus. He is also still involved with pan now living in Edmonton. The legacy of pan in the family continues. We are grateful that the Matriach of this family is still around and we celebrate this birthday with her ...Give thanks and praises

Hi Salah, Congratulations to your Mom. Your Uncle Bob,(your Mom's brother) will be 76 on Jan 7 , 20 years younger than his sister , and still going strong too, he loves his pan and his family .
Thank you Pat, he is the Patriach of the family and we are so proud of him because he was only 17 years old when he founded and pioneered the original Flamingoes ..a 17 year old kid with that type of insight and commitment at that time 1957. I am quite honoured to be a part of this Family. I recall that we had some 20 players in Flamingoes who were immediate direct family relatives. I can only wish the best for both my uncle and Mom
