Pan Semis starts this Sunday; Jam Yuh Set! In De Rama; Congrats to Pan Stereonettes.

Earlier this week the Pan Moving Forward team visited the only band from Arima that is in the semi-final round of what is anticipated to be the only National Competition thus far for Carnival 2022. The visit was to organize support for the band Pan On The Move Steel Orchestra regarding improving their social media skills and this courtesy would be extended to all the bands that need help wherever enhancement is needed. A video of the various bands performing a repertoire of music was uploaded to the Jam Yuh Set! Facebook page for the preliminary round. That took place last weekend. The public had a 24-hour window to choose their winner by voting with Facebook’s likes (1 point), comments (3 points) and shares (3 points). The band Pan On The Move would be expected to perform again this Sunday the 16th January, live on WACK’s virtual space where the audience will get the opportunity to judge and donate for the band in real time.

Jam Yuh Set! is a production of the group Pan Moving Forward. The objectives of this event are to; give bands the opportunity to perform, be seen by potential sponsors and clients for sponsorship and gigs locally and internationally, make money through online donations, promote their semi-final performance as their online concert and understand how to use social media to make all the aforementioned a success. Pan Moving Forward’s education officer, Lesedi Felix, hosted a workshop in early January on the benefits of social media to the bands and what are the things that can be done to immediately boost their band’s virtual presence. Pan Moving Forward is further extending itself to locate help for the bands who still struggle with their virtual influence as their survival in this competition depends on it.

Seven bands would be performing in the semi-final round of the competition, held every Sunday until the final on the 27th of February. Each band would be expected to perform for at least one hour on the day of their semi-final. For the finals, the three bands would be performing on the same day and each set would be 45 minutes long. Both the prelims and semis judging happened through online voting. However, a panel of band leaders, together with pan personalities, would determine the winner. The judges’ critique is strictly based on who jam their set the best.

Congrats to Pan Stereonettes Steel Orchestra for topping the preliminary round with a whopping 1,259 points, which was 909 more than the band in second place, Nutting Big Steel Orchestra. In third place, PanDe All Stars, in fourth place, Kings Row Retro Riddim followed by The Facts and Us, Pan On The Move and finally StarDust. All bands nationally were eligible to take part but they were required to only play with single pan instruments.

We at Pan Moving Forward would like to congratulate all the participants and wish them the best of luck in the other stages of what is shaping up to be the only national competition for the 2022 Carnival season.

  • Aquil: THE STEELBAND COMMUNITY (and THE PNM GOVERNMENT) only LOVE PAN HUSTLERS like BEVERLEY and THE SECRETARY and THE TREASURER. So you are WASTING YOUR TIME trying to MOVE PAN FORWARD when there are PAN SOCCOUYANTS like BEVERLEY RAMSEY-MOORE sucking THE JUICE out of PAN and leaving PAN MEN to beg for their SUPPER.

GOOD LUCK PARTNER ...  but yuh wasting YOUR TIME. Randall Mitchell is a BLIND PUPPET. So PAN DEAD IN TRINIDAD!!!
