Pan Trinbago should sit before a JSC

This morning on CNC3's the Morning Brew Hema Ramkissoon spoke with Gregory Lindsay about Pan Trinbago. He thanked Keith Diaz for his service but believes that its time for him to go. He also suggested that the organisation go before a Joint Select Committee.

  • The CIP has betrayed the pan movement; Diaz is still in charge because a deal was struck.

I must admit that after all the celebration and exuberance, many of us who head the resistance were still not on solid ground as to what was decided in the final arrangement. This is due to the atmosphere of the meeting in its final stages. The membership was on edge and they just wanted at that point to vote and go.

People who were not at the meeting had concerns about the president and treasurer staying on the new executive. They even went as far as accusing CIP members, including myself, of cooking up a deal with Diaz. They claimed that Gregory Lindsay got money from Diaz; Dane and Mendez were on Diaz’ program and even Ramsey-Moore and Tobey (non-CIP member) were hugging up Diaz now.  So let me clear the air on some of these allegations.

    1. I have always spoken about the love I have for Mr. Diaz, however, because of his wrongdoings, I cannot support him. He has been abusive to me over the phone and in public and for this I do not entertain any conversation with Mr. Diaz up to this date. However, if he approaches in a civilized manner I will have no problem speaking with him. Again, Mr. Diaz and I haven’t spoken to each other over a year now.

    2. Gregory Lindsay’s band, again, let me emphasize, his band applied for a loan which the executive approved, Mr. Diaz does not have the authority to give anybody Pan Trinbago’s money. All bands are within their rights to seek assistance from the organization. That is why they are in existence, to help us when in need.

    3. Dane Gulston in nearly every interview said “it is nothing personal. There are issues that need to be dealt with, which have nothing to do with the relationship between the executive members and me”. Most of the CIP members share the same sentiment. Dane was offered an opportunity to call out the forces to the meeting on Mr. Diaz’ program and it was wise of him to accept.

    4. Mrs. Ramsey Moore, Mr. Toby and the CIP, see no need to fight the president. He has put up the white flag and he is ready to go. He admitted he was wrong and he can no longer represent the organization in a meaningful way. He wants an early election and we want an early election. Due to this, it would be foolish to continue wasting time and energy fighting someone who is working towards the same outcome. It is the rest of the executive who insist that they should stay, so all of our efforts would now be towards rooting out these power hungry pan vampires.

As for Diaz being on the new executive, it is something that CIP members are not in favor of. However, the membership willed it, therefore we must concede. The CIP brought the original motion to the floor (a motion is like a suggestion) which was put to the floor for the membership to debate. Different amendments to the motion happened throughout the 4-hour meeting. One of the amendments was persona non grata on all executive members, which I would personally like to see. Unfortunately, or fortunately, depending on where you sit, through discussion, that was removed. Some staff workers who are also delegates were present at the meeting, and they were concerned about pay. Bands also had that concern as NCC is allegedly about to release some money to the organization. So in order to ensure staff and bands don’t suffer any further, the CIP conceded to the wishes of the membership and the arrangement made was accepted. It was quite evident that membership does not want Diaz or the Treasurer around Pan Trinbago’s business but there is an immediate need to keep them around. Coming to the end of the meeting the membership was irritated and they just wanted to get it over with.

For those people who have a problem with the outcome, I am making an appeal to you. Come and be a part of the decision making process. Do not let other people decide for you. Come to meetings and make your voices heard. Now that we are finally allowed to have motions moved, your suggestions could determine the new direction of the organization.

  • So Claude since you are taking licks for Gregory today.

    • What is the present relationship between CIP and Rolly Polly?
    • Why have the Gregory and the Aquil been giving praises to Rolly Polly?
    • Will the gangsta Panorama ticket scam exposed by the ex-PRO be addessed CIP?
    • What does a Pan Trinbago body agreeable to CIP look like?
  • 2959994915?profile=original

  • NOBODY is coming between and GREGORY LINDSAY. Ah taking LICKS for GREGORY LINDSAY and WINSTON PETERS!!!

  • Not unlike Miss Dorothy, hear what I strongly suspect the local pan fraternity wants/likes...

  • Don't get it twisted Bro, Gregory was man enough to step-up and I commend him, was he the best person to do the interview, I'm sure there are many that's better but where are they? I did not critique the interview, just big up the Brother.
  • The following photograph I believe accurately portrays the atmosphere in the steelband fraternity today as it relates to the rumblings taking place at 14-17 Park Street Port of Spain. Gregory and Aquil (and not other CIP Big Pappies) are not represented by any of those perched high above the action waiting to pounce on the spoils.

    • Good one bro...I wonder how many responses it will garner...

  • Chosen Mr. Hinkson? Are many not called, but just a few chosen?

    • Why is Gregory always CHOSEN to appear before the cameras?
    • Why have aggrieved members of the fraternity not CHOSEN to support positions that he took in the past?
    • Why did he not choose to exert his influence on the wide support he claims to have in making a statement by boycotting Panorama as George Goddard jr. suggested, instead of deceitfully preparing his band, making an appearance, and then starting a big brouhaha when he did not cross the final hurdle?
    • Tell me of a frontline advocate in a revolution, except probably Desmond Tutu and Mohandas Ghandi who was not considered for, or considered offering themselves to serve in a leader role.
    • How has Gregory been able to mobilize support for his initiatives?
    • Remember that it is Keith Diaz who called that meeting Gregory is using as the basis for his latest appearance before the camera, where he considered him transparent.
    • Are you suggesting that I refrain from expressing my objective opinions, if I do not come forward?
    • Why have you and Claude Gonzales not come forward?
    • Is it because people like YOU are not on the frontline sir?

I am a little confused sir?
