Pioneer Flamingoes soldier passes today

Arrived in Trinidad today, and an unfortunate sad event just happened. My cousin, good friend, partner and brother in the rebuilding process of Flamingoes Steelband, Russel De Souza (Pouchy), has passed today. Flamingoes and the entire St.John Village sends their condolences to Russel and his family. Russel has been a bass player, a stalwart and soldier in the original Flamingoes (Mother band of Exodus) since the 1960's. He never left the band, but kept it together through all these decades. I will certainly miss him in this rebuilding process of Flamingoes. Russel was the "Soul of Flamingoes" ... After many decades of no longer playing pan. Russel came out and played his bass for the last time in the panorama of 2018. Thank you Russel..............................
He will be missed, but his soul will remain with us. Rest In Peace my brother , you certainly did your part and we are grateful.

  • Condolences to the family. This name doesn't ring a bell. I know all the Desouzas from St. Johns RD. I remember Sweetie, we same age group, the deceased. who worked for the Gov't, amd quonqat. That's a Desouza's face.
