I do hope everyone is enjoying a wonderful Holiday season.

On a more somber note, I've been informed that popular Trinidadian trombonist Simeon Cabellero aka  "Neville Oxley" is seriously ill, and on life support in a New York hospital.

A more complete report on his status will be posted when available.

Trinidad music lovers would recognize Oxley as the outstanding  trombonist featured in the Fitz Vaughn Bryan and Ron Berridge Orchestras of the nineteen fifties and sixties.

Personally, I can recall every note of some of his trombone solos, and I thought him to be the best trombonist in T&T in that era.

Our thoughts prayers and go out to Mr Cabellero, and to his friends and loved ones.

  • Trombonist Simeon "Oxley" Cabellero has passed away.

Oxley was one of the top trombonists in Trinidad in the big band dance band era.

He was a key frontline member of the Fitz Vaughn Bryan and Ron Berridge Orchestras.

For some time he was on life support in a New York hospital, and he passed away on March 5th, 2012.

My condolences to his friends and loved ones.

    May he Rest In Peace.

    • Thanks for remembering Mr Neville, Glenroy. He was my stepfather and an extremly talented trombonist. He will be missed.

      Kweku.
