But your suggestion defeats the whole purpose and definition of a "Finals", which is based on a knockout system. I like the idea of an electronic vote by the people, but only in addition to the judges decision; this way we can see the winner from the judges point of view and also from the people's point of view.
NIce. I agree but implementation is key.................look what went on with the "bleachers".
i think it still wont be fair if the people judge because .... everyone will vote for their band even if they played scrappy or if they play excellent....... this is just the system...... robbery or no robbery if someone band dosen't make d saying is "they get robbed".....
I like the idea of the people vote, but that could cause trouble too.
Or just have a criterea in the judges point sytem for general effect (audience response). As the judges in drum corp. competitions have.
No eh that makes not scense at all ppl get carried away with gimmick and sometimes don't understand the art of the music properly. I'm not against All Stars they are one of my favorite bands but if the ppl were to judge the panorama by electronic vote wouldn't All Stars win every year. Yes the judges are not always rite but can the ppl judge any better. Pan has its own jumbie and its not every year the favorites or our choice would win. I play for Phase Two we have the most amount of 2nd placing by any local band in a panorama finals and what will we let it kill us. When Boogsie now started in the 70's his music was not accepted because he did his own thing years of trial and error turned him into a pro time strengthened him and he became a genius Phase Two was not always in the top three or finalists steelband. Renegades went through the same faith with Jit All Stars were thrown out of two consecutive finals. I empathize with Exodus but after only becoming a Major steelband 20yrs in the finals without being out and three times out of the finals in thier history is indeed a great achievement but whats make them so different and deserving of always making it no matter what.
Hate to say this but Starlift derserved to be 4th or 5th. I think the Judges were judging by the speed that the tune was played. The faster tunes got in and those who played slower were out. Some of the bands who made it sounded like a lot of noise. Phase 2 was very good. Pantrinbago needs to do something about the judges and the method of judging. By midnight I am sure that all the bands begin to sound the same to them.
i think foreign judges who would judge music and not arranger or popularity should be invested in by pan trinbago or the govt. because every yr the people ie pannists and supporters and the crowd seem to hear a different thing from the judges. it is becoming disgusting
Jahlani i think Pamberi was robbed but this has become a norm and it is wrong...
