I was disappointed with Deltones. I really expect more from them this year.
Any knowledge of live broadcast like last year on CTNTWorld ?
i think panorama was shown on cnmg and cnc3 yesterday live...but it started from the medium bands
At long last the judges have got the "cahones" to judge Exodus correctly! Now,let's see them do their thing if Boogsie starts to faint this year! It's way beyond time that these judges stop licking Boogsie's B.....s!
Please people let's be real, it's not the end of the world if Exodus did'nt make the finals.I've played pan for over thirty years and had many disappointments and i've heard complaints for every one of those years from band members and supporters alike about the judging, the fact is judges are humans and have different likes and dislikes like everyone else so some of us may never agree with them at one time or another. Let's appreciate our culture it was a great night of pan music but there can only be one winner.
Hats off to my old band Solo Harmonites coming back together and giving a very good performance, sorry to all those that failed to make it better luck next year. Let's get ready for some more sweet pan in the finals . GOOD LUCK EVERYONE !
PS: PLEASE STOP THE IGNORANT COMMENTS !
HERE HERE!!!!!!!
Love this!!!!. Life goes on, LET's Enjoy the PAN, we are blessed to have an intsrument like the pan that we can call our very own. Great Comment Mr Joseph.
You sound like an ignorant fool who knows nothing about pan music and is extremely bias you are a clown don't care what you say fool. Roderick
I sincerely believe that competition does nothing to improve the quality of steelband music.
Competition only stifles creativity oand innovation because most bands then seek to only imitate the stylings of winning bands. Thats what they do since they believe that is what the judges want to hear.
Thank God the semi finals came off incident free. From my view point it seems as though it was a success. However ,I have some concerns. Looking at the Medium band category- First of all , I must applaud the five Tobago bands that qualified.. Indeed you all represented Tobago well. Indeed, the finals would be a TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO NATIONAL PANORAMA FINALS.Listening to the different bands, I was impressed with the quality of music. But, I think it is not just about sounding good it is also about looking good. I was disappointed to see how some bands who have been stalwarts in this category and who have been in existence for years looked shabbily. I was also concerned after listening to two bands that played the same tune, it seemed like "deja vu". Then I started to reflect when I heard players of one of the bands protesting that their arrangement was stolen. I got a quick flashback to 2008 when the same thing happened. Then I began to wonder.... is an arranger supposed to be a creative individual? or should an arranger just be able to steal other people's music and call it his or hers? Isn't that a serious infringement?
To all those who wish to create an alternative in de judging system , I say there would be no integrity/ no true reflection.

In the large band category., I continue to applaud Boogsie and his hard working band. Silver Stars- you are exemplary. You were able to jump categories and excellent. To you I say EXCELLENT. To Renegades , Harmonites, All Stars, Despers, Invaders-- I applaud you for your consistency. Keep at it. I am indeed happy for FONCLAIRE AND SKIFFLE BUNCH--- two south bands in this year. GREAT!!! TOBAGO'S Redemption- I congratulate you for your consistency as well.
Now I would comment on the exclusion of Exodus. Most people are wondering what would the finals be like without Exodus... To you I say it would be excellent, indeed there are other bands with Music that is equally as good or wayyyyyyyy miles better. Trinbagonians believe for many years that only big names must be in. SO what if the "big name" band busss?? So what if the "big name" band arranger ( who is human) arrange crap?? So what if to the judges the music from the "big name" band wasn't clear? I vehemently believe that they should not be included into the finals if they do not deserve to be there based on the criteria that was used.
I WISH ALL THE BANDS AN EXCELLENT FINAL. MAY THE BEST BAND WIN.... LOVE U ALL MY PAN BRETHREN.
