Artist in Residence announcement

Posted on December 15, 2011 at 1:07am 0 Comments

I am just letting all my east coast friends know that I will be teaching as artist-in-residence at Colby College (Maine) for the Spring semester. I would be pleased to hook up with any steel bands/players in the Maine/New Hampshire/Vermont area while I am there. Also, we are looking for a set of triple guitars and a set of six-bass to use for the steel band survey course I'll be teaching there. If you know of any groups in the area between Portland and Bangor, Maine, by all means, let me…

New Fake Book

Posted on December 10, 2010 at 5:41pm 0 Comments

Two Trees Music has just published the "Gary Gibson Fake Book," a collection of 57 songs in about 240 pages, presented in condensed lead sheet format (and, in some cases, instrument-specific parts). Roughly two-thirds of the music is directly transcribed or adapted from the scores from the original recordings. The rest of the music remains either unrecorded or unreleased, and span the quarter century between 1985 and…

Gary, I am the music director of STEEL PRAISIN', a Christian Steel Drum Orchestra in Winston-Salem, NC. Is your arrangement of Bach's LITTLE FUGUE IN G MINOR published or can I get a copy of it for my group. Please let me know as soon as possible at triadpanman@earthlink.net . Thanks,

Tom Petersen

Hi Gary, This is Nigel Campbell who wrote the piece Pan Jazz Picnic about pan CDs recently. I will change the source of the quote as requested. I got the quote from the Album Notes section on your CD Baby page for "Two Cents." Would you tell me the source of the quote used by CD Baby?

Sorry, no stream available of it, but I do believe the group will record it and make it available for purchase.

Hey Gary,
This is Matt Potts from NIU. How's everything going? I just started advertising The Steelpan Store at the beginning of January and have really seen some good interest in it. I'm hoping to keep this momentum going and start getting some sales for you. I am trying to push your stuff whenever I receive questions about either CDs or sheet music. Maybe I'll be able to work with your case design sometime soon as well. Well, I just saw your name up here so I figured I would just see how everything is going with you in the new year.
-Matt Potts
