Thank you, Tropical Angel Harps for helping to spread pan culture in the region.
Cuba is a Caribbean country, they are supposed to be part of the steelband movement, if only by geography.
Our band the T&TEC Tropical Angel Harps donated our pans to the Cubans when we paid a short visit to that wonderful sister country three years ago. I am particularly delighted to see the extent to which they have taken to pan. We would be more than happy to repeat our donation should we find ourselves in the position of having to visit Cuba again. Given their ingenuity and their discipline, they are likely to take pan to some serious heights in the region.
Beautiful music, excellent 'panmanship'. Pity the Pope was not in the appreciative audience. If he were, he might have requested a pan ensemble for the Vatican. We in TT should help the Cubans build on their love for steelband music, and maybe even seek opportunities for our own musicians to entertain the thousands of tourists who flock the island. Several opportunities here--for us, for the Cubans and for the Caribbean.
