Connecticut, USA  - Seven high school students from greater Bridgeport area are spending their spring vacation performing with drum ensembles in Trinidad.

The group of young musicians who comprise the “A” ensemble at the Jim Royle Drum Studio, on Wood Avenue, left for their 10-day trip to the Caribbean island on Friday.

"They worked so hard for this trip," said Nina Soalt, the mother of the group's lone bass guitarist, Isaiah Mansour.

Mansour, 15, a sophomore at Fairfield Warde High School, and the nine high-school students who make up the steel drum ensemble practiced for several hours once a week and gave a special performance for their parents Thursday night. By dawn Friday, they were headed to the airport.
