Eighth-annual Ohio Valley Festival of Steel May 10

Ohio, USA - Plans are being made for the eighth-annual Ohio Valley Festival of Steel, an event shaping up to be another "pan marathon," according to Shelly Irvine, festival founder and coordinator.

The event will be held May 10 at Catholic Central High School with doors opening at 1:15 p.m. and continuing through 7:20 p.m., the scheduled time for a mass band performance and the presentation of plaques.

....The Ohio Valley Festival of Steel is an annual event for steel drum bands to share their current musical program in a single-day festival setting, according to Shelly Irvine, festival founder and coordinator.

  • I like the concept. It's not about competition. The main objective is to sensitize, advertise and promote (to all interested) "the gift of music on the steel drum". Also, free admission for children six and under, encourages the continuity of the Festival. I hope there will be video postings of this event. Congrats to the OVFS committee, well done.
