"From Before Tamboo Bamboo to Steelband: The Story of the Steelpan," capsules seven weeks of lectures, steelpan stylistics, Internet research, videos on the steelpan, carnival and life in Trinidad and Tobago and of course fun.

The presentation takes the audience from the shores of Africa, through slavery and Emancipation (including Tamboo Bamboo), World War II and the post-War years and climaxes in a mini carnival.  One can expect marines (in full battle gear, complete with armaments), fancy sailors, all white sailors, jab jab, moko jumbies, limbo, . . .mas with a purpose to the sound of the combined Different Drums Youth Ensemble and Pan People Steelband. This revolution will not be televised. So be there!
