Woodbrook, Trinidad & Tobago, W.I. - Pan on D Avenue II in Woodbrook, Trinidad was a huge success; the crowds turned out and Trinidad’s best steel orchestras paraded from east to west—a reversal of last year’s direction—along Ariapita Avenue in North-west Trinidad on August 24. Getting off to a start about half hour later than the 6:30 p.m. schedule time, the event in its entirety was broadcast on Trinidad & Tobago’s TV 4 and streamed live online to viewers around the world. If we CANNOT agree on the FACTS from August 25th, 2013 how on earth can we AGREE on the history of PAN from the NINETEEN FORTIES?
I watched Pan of D Avenue on the internet from 6.30 to 3.00am in the morning and it was the best thing that I've seen pan do in T'dad in a long time. The steelbands played old time favourites that had everyone chipping and it was a joy to see so many people out there just to see and hear pan. This type of thing is what we should be doing in T'dad at EVERY OPPORTUNITY during the year to bring back steelband into the forefront of everyone's mind. We can expand on this and make the route longer and make each band play more tunes so that we make it into a true Carnival steelband on the road experience without DJs. If a DJ plays - nonviolently - cut the power on him. He will soon get the idea. Lets get the steelbands back on the road with their supporters until we are back on the road with a vengeance!!! As my old mother used to say......"there are more ways of skinning a cat than just using a knife!!!!" . BTW congratulations to the Woodbrook Community Committee for having the excellent foresight to make this kind of project for Woodbrook and steelbands.
Char, I am glad too that there were a lot of people out there, But, Was it a paying Event or was it Free?, If it was a free event I can understand, If it was a paying event I am happy for the organizers.
This street party PAN ON D AVENUE was a resounding success if you were not there in person STOP SPREADING RUMORS about DJ playing while the steelband is performing - from Gatacre Street the start of the parade to Adam Smith Square Stage where they warmed the crowd their were no DJ playing music - lower down the Avenue their were some business playing DJ music because the bands have already dissemble!!!! That was my observations - I walk the Avenue up & down about 20 times between 7:pm to 2:00am
Garvin, you are correct, there were NO DJ's playing on the Strip from Gatacre St. to lower down the Avenue. The Resident/House DJ, was the culprit, he was the one that was warned about playing when the Steelbands were exiting the stage playing their pan tunes. Other that this, there were no other DJs, just PAN, PAN and more PAN.
It is not a rumor. The DJ's had to be asked to lower their music. In addition the announcers themselves said on the live broadcast that the DJ were being very disrespectful.

Somebody should switch de power off like dat TV series REVOLUTION. Leh meh see who go play sound box music then.
only Bertie Marshall had de vision to amplify pan. Thank god it never catch on. If yuh want pan to drown out de sound systems then push the player numbers to 300 or more. But ah forget nobody have a yard dat big so dey could practise. LOL

I guess that Pantribago can't do anything about that.And the DJ just keep following the pan all over the place.
People say panorama is killing pan... in my view it is the guy with the laptop plugged into a PA, not killing it but bludgeoning it with 5000 watts of sound
