Yes Rio is more than just beads and feathers there are themes portrayed by the Samba schools.and yes there are the ladies in very skimpy outfits, but what they do not do is have simulated sex. which is what we think Trinidad Carnival is about. There has always been Calypso.there has always suggestive dancing, but what was never lost was the CULTURE, CREATIVITY, AND HISTORY of what Carnival really stands for

The steelband is what makes us different. Where is the nakedness that Brazil is known for? Doh tell me they are in T&T now...
Where is the excitement?? Where is the music to make you want to wine? And maybe that's what makes Trini Carnival so exciting, is it the music?

Interestingly, the portrayals are closer to the idea of traditional Trini mas, than todays "bead and bikini" extravaganza,and, the costumes remind me of the big bands of yesteryear.
I am very impressed
Trinis should stop bragging about how fabulous their Carnival is, and take a good look around at what others are doing.
