A Tribute to Dr. Jit Samaroo by the Supernovas Steel Orchestra at the 2015 International Conference & Panorama Competition. Jit Samaroo has won 9 panorama titles as the arranger of the Renegades Steel Orchestra, the only band to accomplish a hat-trick of wins in the National Panorama Competition. He has composed 11 test-pieces for various music festivals and competitions. The Holder of 2 national awards, the Humming bird medal of merit (Silver) 1987 and the Chaconia Medal (Silver) 1995 he was also awarded by the University of the West Indies in 2003 with an honorary Doctorate. Supernovas Steel Orchestra pays tribute to a cultural Icon of steel pan music Dr. Jit Samaroo. They performed "Dr. Samaroo" arranged by his son, Amrit Samaroo; composed by Mark Loquan, written by Gregory Ballantyne and Sung by Anslem Douglas Supernovas Steel Orchestra are proudly Co-Sponsored by Harry Persad & Sons Limited. Additional Footage courtesy : BPTT & Renegades Steel Orchestra Supernovas performance featured in this film was recorded at their live performance at the 2015 International Conference & Panorama Competition held at the Queen's Park Savannah, Trinidad & Tobago. The steel orchestra faced competition from over 20 of the best Steel Bands worldwide and was successful in securing the 2nd place worldwide ranking.
