makes me wish I was in the yard. I always prefer the slower tempo. Boogsie please dont rearrange this to death because it sweet just so.
Boogsie is so far out that he is on his way back. The greatest.
BoB.
Its the recording the bad sounds much much much better live!
Comment by Bugs on February 2, 2012 at 4:37pm The great thing is that they still sound like Despers. They haven't lost their aggressiveness.
Boogsie is a genuis! I met him in 1990 when he performed at the University of Akron. Someone should ask him about the "Rocky Theme Song" be busted into during his solo performance.... good stuff!!!
Comment by Royce Russell on February 2, 2012 at 12:51pm Expectation is very high for Sunday LARGE CONVENTIONAL STEELBAND semi-finals. The varying degrees of ecstasy experienced in the different panyards around Port-of-Spain on Monday night - these players are ready.
The high energy of music in Trinidad - from now 'till panorama finals would be felt global!
Nice to see you honor the "Archbishop", Boogsie". Maybe, next year, you can honor THE ONE who gave his life for pan, and was politically "crucified" by the very fraternity for whom he sacrificed! (Who do Christians honor most, the Pope, or the "Christ"? Who's efforts do you think had a greater impact on the "pan industry", Pat or George? And why?
FYI - To date, Othello Mollineaux, on his CD "It's About Time", is the ONLY person (that I am aware of) to honor the contributions of George "Sonny" Goddard. And to be clear, Tello is more internationally known than Boogsie, especially in the jazz world. But then again, Othello has also not been given his due respect, and is also the reject of an ungrateful nation. So, they push for awards for McDonald, but no such efforts for the honoring of Othello Mollineaux. Well, IT'S ABOUT TIME!!! (Thank You, Othello Mollineaux, for showing the World that the steeldrum "pan" is a musical instrument, not a stage prop for the purpose of creating that "island feeling", alongside the fake coconut trees. Thank you, Jaco, for allowing Tello the opportunity to showcase our contribution to music, on such a global scale!)
