DOING SOMETHING FOR PAN?

Trinidad - Today I visited three Steelbands and handed out the Petitions to the leadership so that their membership can sign up. I have also just returned from a radio talk show (91.9Fm) .Let me say to you all that the Pan Community of Trinidad appreciates the fact that we ( the world wide Pan Community) are aware and are concerned about their plight as regards the Policy of the gypsy and the T&T government and they appreciate what we are trying to do as regards this Petition asking the Government to reverse their Policy for the Panorama preliminary funding. I intend going to as many steelbands as I possibly can. ...I am limited because I am just one individual..I am also an Arranger as I am working trying to bring back my old band Flamingoes so it is more than just arranging ..I have to be in the PanYard.... Those of you who will be coming down to T&T can also print out the Petition from the online site and take it around to bands ..this way we will all be .DOING SOMETHING FOR PAN.

To the other 6000 plus members of WST ...the song from Boogsie in 2011 is DO SOMETHING FOR PAN

Now what is your story .....what is your excuse for not taking a minute of your time to sign the petition.... Don't blame it on Pan Trinbago...because they did not start this Petition....Stop the petty division and DO SOMETHING FOR PAN...... talk is cheap...If you do not like Pan Trinbago's policies... do like Boogsie write a song about them or start a petition about them.....but this issue is not about Pan Trinbago it is about the 10,000 pan players of T&T who will get their little $1000TT ( $150US) cut by $200TT . We can probably make a difference if we show a strong sense of Unity. right now the signatures are only 169 ..bravo to all the people who have signed...but this is pathetic...All of you talkers out there the issue is bigger than all of us so get with it. I am going to hit all media outlets, radio shows, TV shows, and the newspapers in the coming days.I feel good about this because this is a good cause and time is a factor because Panorama begins in early February .I feel like I am doing something for Pan and it feels good ...come on WST members ( 6000 plus) DO SOMETHING FOR PAN.....SIGN THE PETITION..........BE A PART OF IT .....go to the link NOW

All we need is for the rest of the Pan community to stand up and fight this fight...It is no longer a fight of 'Bottle and Stone' but a fight with the Pen. There is no victory without a struggle. I am going to hit the major Newspapers, TV shows, Radio Talk Shows ...We need the big heavyweight names of Arrangers & Managers & Captains of all Steelbands in T&T as well as around the world ..your presence on the Petition will have a lot of weight.We are closing in on the Panorama Preliminaries so we need the signatures now. For the people who are still holding back because of the perception that this is a Pan Trinbago thing...it is not ....the Petition was started by the World Pan community and you need to rise above Personal issues and see the bigger picture. The issue is about getting the government to reverse its policy towards the Panorama Preliminary funding for 2011 ...in other words to simply give back the $200TT .....which is only about $34 US dollars ...YES IT IS PATHETIC.... and a case of penny pinching. this money is 'small-thing' for a government with a robust economy as T&T but that $200TT means a lot to the 10,000 pan players who will be affected. This is also not an attack on the government of Trinidad & Tobago but it is a democratic right to stand up against a bad policy taken by the government and this is indeed a bad Policy. so come on and sign the Petition

Salah you have to remember that people in Trinbago and most Trinbagonians on the whole have not yet learned how to embrace their right to sensible debate, protest for a cause and start a petition going. In trinbago the people are not SAVY. Sign a petition ?what that will help and how many people will sigh that those are the questions that they will ask. Trinbagonians are steeped in negativity and will only jump on the bandwagon when something is successful. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK MR SALAH.

  I believe that the cause of the pan movement is so right that the Pan people in T&T will wake up.
  
  I did a radio talk show last Suday night and there were a lot of call ins and people were expressing good things and more so that this Petiton was started by the World Pan Community ...it gave it more credibility rather than it coming from say Pan Trinbago.. Even after the show I got a lot of calls with people wanting to ge involve. One individual even exclaimed that he is going to work towards us getting 100,000 signatures of Trinidadians...I told him ...let's go for it. ..Personally I am going to hit more radio stations, TV stations and all major newspapers..I am also still visiting Bands and gving the petitions to the managers to get their members to sign up. I re-visited Pan trinbago again on monday and got them to put it up on their website and to push it at all the other regions....but we need to get the other 6000 plus WST members wo are Missing In Action to step up to the plate and sign up.....the international signatures wll have a strong impact and send a powerful message to the Government of T&T that the World is watching......let,s keep it alive..Panorama is only three weeks away.

As of Tuesday Jan 18th there are 6832 WST members....and 201 have signed the Petition...where are the other 6631 WST members...( M.I.A.)......you have three weeks left before the Panorama preliminaries (Single Pan begins). the pan community in T&T is depending on our International support. This support will be meaningful and will send a clear message to the Gypsy and the Government of T&T ...It will clearly say that the world is watching your actions there in Trinidad & Tobago.

M.I.A.'s you need to step up and be counted.....Take a minute off from your other talks and do the right thing with this petition......We need that Unity.

I commend your leadership and initiative. I answered the call and did my part for pan by signing the online petition from the start. Some may think $1,000.00TTD is a mere pittance, but for many pannist the cacadent is a token to reward hard-work and welcome payday to help defray the cost. Every Pan-Fan should support this noble cause which Salah is steering. We'll deal with the issues of PanTrinbago, broadening the scope to move pan forward under separate cover. For now, answer the call and Do Something For Pan!!!

  this Petition got to be in before the Prelims, which starts in early February.. THIS IS THE ISSUE TO ADDRESS AND ....DO SOMETHING FOR PAN.....The rest is talk ...we have to talk but we must also do ....when the cause is right ...It takes only one minute to go to the website and put down your name ....Just Do It

Only 169 people signed the petition out of 6800 WST members? That's a shame, we can do beter than that, it takes a minute, it's free, and it will send a powerful message if we all stand together. Don't wait for someone else to do it because it looks like everyone else is waiting for you...
