On August 13, 1992, then Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago Mr. Patrick Manning declared the steelpan to be the national musical instrument of Trinidad and Tobago, (Trinbago). To date, that declaration is yet to be an Act of Parliament in the country of its creation. There is no legal protection for the national instrument. Yet, the steelpan, the only instrument created in the 20th century, continues to improve and it is in demand throughout the Caribbean and the world.

FOR YEARS PAN PEOPLE BEEN CALLING FOR GOVERNMENT ACTION ON PAN, seems as the time has come, however we still need an Act of Parliment declaring Pan our National Instrument.
The steelpan is not the only instrument created in the 20thC. In fact another major tuned percussion instrument - the vibraphone ("vibes") - was created in 1921. The Japanese octoban was another creation in this family of instruments in the mid 1980's.
The steelpan is the first musical instrument in the history of mankind to produce multiple notes from a fixed membrane of any material. Such a monumental musical as well as scientific achievement trumps "the only instrument created in the 20thC" any day, making your concern even more crucial.
WE NEED MORE PEOPLE TO NOTICE THE UNIVERSAL STEELE PAN. THIS IS MORE PROOF FULL SPEED AHEAD

Actually there is another metal gong-type instrument from south east Asia which has multiple pitches on a single metal surface.I have the name written down at home. However pan is the only CHROMATIC metallic idiophone, and certainly an amazing tribute to the talent and resourcefulness of T+T musicians.
IF ANOTHER COUNTRY CLAIMS THE PAN LIKE MANY OTHER THINGS WHAT WOULD WE SAY WHO WOULD TO BE BLAMED. ACTION SHOULD BE TAKEN FROM LONG TIME BEFORE IT ENDS UP IN ANOTHER COUNTRY ADOPTED TO BE THERE OWN. WHEN YOU EVEN THINK PAN THE FIRST THING THAT COMES TO MIND IS TRINIDAD AND NO OTHER PLACE

Pan Mercenary, not an Adversary.
True or false?

Is the Steelpan a National Emblem of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago?
