The Voice - St. Lucia
ON Saturday, March 2 twenty-one members of Pantime will travel to Dominica to join eight members of Pan in Harmony for a friendship tour titled ‘Unity in Pan’. The presence of Pantime Steel Orchestra is also expected to help revitalize the art form on the island. This initiative is sponsored by Dominica National Lotteries.
On Sunday, March 3 the band will be hosted by the Honourable Minister of Tourism and Culture for a welcome cocktail. The band is expected to perform on Monday 4th for J’ouvert and the Ole Mass Parade. Afterwards, the band will be stationed along the food court. They will also perform on Tuesday 5th for the National Costume Parade.
Since 2006, steel pan players from Dominica have been traveling to St. Lucia to play with Pantime Steel Orchestra during the panorama season. For the past 13 years more Dominican panists have been welcomed and hosted by Pantime. This year will be the first that Pantime Steel Orchestra travels as a group to represent St. Lucia.
Have a safe trip, everyone,Dominica is a beautiful Island with lots of warm and friendly People....This trip reminded me of the one I made with the Esso Tripoli Steel Band, across the Caribbean in the late 60s, on our way to the Expo'67 in Montreal Quebec Canada.......Sweet Memories!!!
