PETOSKEY — The Petoskey Steel Drum Band is taking its show on the road, headed to the group’s second appearance at the Chicago Festival of Lights Parade on Saturday, Nov. 21.
For their second trip in a row, members are coming back as a featured performance.
“We were invited back this year, they had no clue who we were last year, but the guy (organizing the event) called me up a month ago and said, ‘you guys were awesome last year. Of course you’re invited back,’ which is a rare thing. They don’t invite bands back-to-back like that. But then he said ‘we’re going to designate you guys as the premiere band this year,’” said Barry Bennett, band director for the steel drum band.
The band will perform at noon at the stage downtown on Michigan Avenue, then load up their drums in the band trailer and perform in the Festival Parade at 5:30 p.m.
