The Lady Of Pan

Daisy James deserves the Hummingbird Medal for her contribution to the National Instrument of T&T, This amazing woman against all odd, was the very first woman to compete and win a "Ping Pong" or Steelpan Soloist competition in Belmont, Trinidad 1946. Every March is International Women's month and our Women Pioneers deserves to be internationally recognised.

  • I am calling on Pantrinbago and other Steelpan organizations, to have a Daisy James Steelpan Scholarship Award in Music for the Women of Steelpan. Many forgotten women endured the early hardship surrounding the Steelband Movement, these ladies deserves to be must be recognized in every manner, Daisy James should be seen as a Pioneer and an excellent contributor to the growth and development of the Steelpan Music and deserves such status.
    • The steel Pan must be officially declared as one of the National Emblems and our National Instrument by an ACT OF PARLIMENT by the government of T&T, antthing else is only lip service. The Pan fraternity must see the true picture and act now to preserve our unique contribution to the World of Music. Lets really do something long lasting for Pan.
